This reminds me of when i was a kid... my brother had a
Amiga 500, and he let me play it.. i was hooked!
I plaid lots of games and he would then player them... making me stand next to him so he could ask me what to do next (rather than work it out, and he is 7 years older).
After a while, i just said,'Why don't you work it out for yourself, and play the game'.
I hear people saying they needed the tool for exploration.. tosh! go to the far end of the galaxy, there's a nice set of twin ELW with my name on it.
Go to the highest start in the galaxy center (top in default view) my name is up there. I didn't use 3rd part tool... the scanner we now have are a blessing, so easy... i did a lot when you had to land on a planet and check what was there. learned what size of planet, type and location was likely to give me what i needed, rather than just asking for the answer (but i found that fun, i didn't even ask for tips on the forum).
Using the tools for the best trade routes? what a crock that becomes, everyone going to the same few places, and not checking out anywhere that's not listed on a site
Engineering...really... sure being able to see all blueprints in the game would be cool but, they are all book marked for you, you get invites telling you what you need to unlock them (even rare commodities, just take the name of the commodity in most cases, and search the g-map).
None of these tools are needed, they are hand holding... and we all wanna play our own way, but if your stuck without theses tool, shame on you
You just not as good at the game as some (Most maybe) who can work out what to do with what is available, and need someone else doing all the leg work for them (3rd party apps) , so i guess you could call some of them cheats
Tools are nice, but the 'request' is not (OP). Work with what you have (challenge in its self), if you want to do it... all this has shown me is, people have become to reliant on the tools and fall apart without them.
Captains logs, things like that , that add flavors to the game (I don't use it) are cool

but relying on 3rd party tools to play the game... nah! not good
