THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

Well, actually I don't think this is her decision. It sounds like it's COR's and their "advisors"; it's a possibiliy they could turn out to be total griefers and have a sharkfest eating all the unarmed participants.

Given the relatively open method of joining the protective side in this event, and the "training" sessions that are taking place, the tactics for defence will be known well in advance by organised attackers, and they will update their strategy and tactics accordingly.

Which probably means... those "in the know" that are telling everyone else to fly unarmed, actually have another plan entirely, and it'll go into action when Salome appears. All those who signed up and trained will be left behind in the space dust wondering what on earth just happened, whilst CoR disappears. Any attackers will have ships prepped for one type of combat or flight strategy... but it'll be the wrong type.

I mean, if you're going to plan a defence, you don't reveal your plan before the event occurs... do you?

Her history tells you that this is unlikely. She has not turned away from a fight as yet, when there has been a risk of innocent life lost. She is a determined and stubborn character, with a laser like focus on her end-game. She has flaws, she has strong points. It makes her character more real for me.

Yes, but some development would make her an even more realistic character, she should have grown up by now...

Because people like that always 'grow-up' and change character? Some do, some don't, some become even more un-sympathetic. If she is not who you want her to be, or who you expect, then that is just how it is.

LOL, that would some how be poetic.

The protectors tell everybody not to bring weapons and then can kill Salomé while everybody else can do nothing but watch in horror. After Salomés death the "protectors" go on harvesting salty tears.

That would be really epic evil.

Anyone who ganks newbies, who haven't even properly learnt their ship controls yet, their first time out of Trevithick Dock has neither shame nor decency. I fully expect the worst to happen.

Jorki - its my understanding this was done during a 'down time' period for Salomé when it was not clear that the Rift story would move forward any time soon, and it began the association with CoR. Not 'real' connection to the mystery in that respect.

Perhaps time will tell.

I think they will do their job and do it well.

They are probably just trying to expand their friends list. The most handy hunting tool in the game. ;)

Considering there are player groups involved whose members deliberately and repeatedly infiltrated (=dramatic term for "became one of the many members of") PvE player groups, to attack those players, the infiltration scenario is indeed not that far-fetched.
Even if the interdiction strategy is by itself the most promising, and even if most of the registered armed forces are really on Salomé`s side.

The Rats will stand ready to refuel anyone and anything, no matter what.

I guess some of the best PvPers (including the infamous Harry Potter) will surround the VIPs, so nobody has a chance taking them out except other top tier PvPers - a community who know each other by name.

Ordering all interdictors to chase off Cobras and other super dangerous builds is a bad idea to say the least, because it will lock down the forces instead of hunting for FDL/FGS/FAS or whatever that is capable and is widely used by PvPers. To be honest, I will now reconsider my role and will be probably there as an independent observer with a preference to the VIPs survival.

Hmm. I wonder ...

If the Dynasty Expedition was mankind's contingency against extinction ... then maybe Unknown Artifacts / Unknown Probes / Barnacles are the Thargoid's version of Dynasty. Insurance against extinction by proliferating your species across the galaxy. Maybe the purpose of the Barnacles is to Thargoidform dead worlds into a place that is habitable by the 'Goids.

Dont have time to go through the thread... Whats happening with this thing tomorrow, then?

Everyone is loading up their Anacondas / Cutters / Clippers with Diso Ma Corn and delivering them to Hutton Orbital. First 50 Commanders who deliver 300+ get an autographed copy of Salome's new book, My Way: From Senator to Sorceress or 'How to Build a Cult in 60 Days Without Really Trying.

Or the UPs are a way too look for Thargoid activity in certain areas by a third party. At this point it is hard to tell.

I always saw UA's as 'what destroys' and barnacles as 'what heals'. Different and opposed means and origins. Evil/Good.
And barnacles wear an 'identification stamp' on them. UA's don't. Why ? Because aliens are maybe as hypocrite as we are:

Tinfoil out...

i kind of want to make a suicide torpedo boat and aim it right at PAC leadership now.

i get that they want to ensure Salomé lives. I want her to live.

I also want this event to be successful, and i define that as as many players ENGAGED and participating as possible, no matter what happens to Salomé

No matter what happens to our 3 protagonists tomorrow, the information will still get out. Notice that Salomés two chief companions are not at risk tomorrow, and are conspicuously absent - where o where are Luko and Hassan?

Salomé is the decoy. She is making as much noise as possible, drawing all the attention to herself. Preparing to possibly sacrifice herself to clear the way for her two comrades to deliver the message.

All this 29th event is just a game feature. With the limited consistency of a...game.
Because: what Sala..Salomé knows, CoR (storyline faction not players faction) also knows.
And if CoR knows, then The Dark Wheel also knows. '...an affiliation of organisations that share a common role.'
They don't lack means to broadcast whatever/whenever they want.
