THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

Stop being so reasonable.

Of course it's worth getting bothered about, but more wry humour on my part considering the run up and risk taken in heading down with a KOS order which included me.

Indeed, and the whole thing with the KOS order was down to people taking things too seriously and forgetting that this is all game.
The entire DD forum can be summarized at this point with the word "WAAAHHH!"

If you look up 'entitled' in an online dictionary, it just a link to this site :D

This thread is kinda salty today. Not as salty as the Dangerous Discussion forum, but still.

This thread is down right diplomatic compared to what is being said on Reddit and various Discord channels right now... in relative terms completely low sodium reading. Wait until the various internal Inquisitions officially start...

And there is salt to go around for FDev there too...CoR are already basically saying it was instancing and delayed hyperspace tunnels that prevented them from saving Salome.

I hope this works:

Well its not saltyness directed at Fdev, they did well today.

They are probably loving that the saltyness is off them

Quality tune.

RIP Salome and CoR

I aint giving up on COR just yet. This could be the day that finally makes us all realise that we ought not try and be like the other factions with all their rules and hierarchies and grand plans.

Time will tell though.

RIP Salome. Not CoR.

CoR's only mistake was letting PAC, AA and other 'l33t pvp types' take over organisation. As soon as that happened, intelligence and inclusiveness was replaced by egos, cronyism and stupidity.

I for one will be looking to get more involved with CoR following this event. There actions throughout all of this saga so far have shown me they are just the type of dedicated group I want to spend more time being involved with.

I can confirm that.

Maybe it's time for THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 5)? Don't think you can separate this one from the events of the day.

I'd really like to hear some theories on what more about the mystery might be learned. If nothing else I'd like to know who to punish in the BGS :S.

Anyone have thoughts on how this story line might effect the future of Colonia? The powers were looking for a place to escape to and now one is established... I think it's just beginning. We all need to start being real suspicious of CG's. I think we've been helping the wrong people.

So what did we learn from this event? What clues? apart from the listening post found earlier.

Can someone enlighten me? i'm trying follow this thread but seem to be getting lost in the big salt factory that's being built.

Fair enough, Salomé is dead (feels weird writing that) by her own "bodyguards" who happened to be >>THEE<< most notorious ganker ... why anyone would assign them to this role is BEYOND me. << Cannot emphasize this enough!

So i'm asking politely...

What is our next move toward's the mystery? Where are we off to?

I'm afraid i haven't got a clear head at the mo.

Except there's nothing really pointing to the Rift anymore. Time for a new title. Perhaps something along the lines of the Powers Conspiracy Thread?

Well, you can go to the Rift on the chance that there are more Mega Ships or settlements though it's back to looking for a needle in a haystack. You could go to the Conflux and Hawkins Gap on the assumption that there might be at least one Mega Ship at each location, but again, no guidelines on where or how to search. I think you're basically stuck until F Dev decides to move the grand conspiracy plot forward.

I agree with Drew Carnegie, the mystery is still here. Can we move back to the threadnaught we knew and loved?

The thing that's coming, our Winter in Spring, is it:
Thargoids
Meta-Thargoids
Guardian AI
Meta-Guardians
R'lyehians
Meta-R'lyehians
Pink-furred mastadons with laser eyes and colonic disrupters
Meta-Pink-furred mastadons with laser eyes and colonic disrupters

Let spin the wheel of drunken speculation!

I'll play:

Raan got through. Raan has new/unknown information about hyperdrive tech.
Aliens are coming. Aliens leave present ships dead in the water ergo...

New Hyperdrive tech incoming very soon.

No, many won't realize that factions and hierarchies aren't the right way to go. They just love to lead or to follow. Making big speeches about freedom and truth only to keep twist the truth, find excuses and tell everybody what they should do.

<final scene>
DBX flying into the sunset at

<voice over>
"We are free explorers. Nobody tells us what to do or where to go.
Freedom!
Truth!"

I'm afraid I can't get behind a two word battle-cry. It needs to be three words, like 'Veni, Vedi, Vici' or 'Libertie, Fraternite, Run-away'.
Currently I'm stuck on:

Freedom!
Truth!
Biscuits!

But it won't translate to well into American. (Seriously, if a Yank offers you biscuits DON'T ACCEPT!)

One word: Raxxla
One good thing: ' It's out there and we(DB) know where it is"
One terrible thing: 'There will be no clues' (MB)

Think we need a few days to take stock and get this out of our systems, but yes, probably time for a new thread

The way this played out makes for a really exciting narrative. Assassin infiltrates bodyguards, fails to keep up with his target, somehow persuades target to be slowed down, manages to catch up just at the last minute and execute the kill. And I know the events will be disputed, but we have a memorable event and an exciting narrative: just what the ending of the book needs.

Freedom, Truth, Honking?

So now that it's over, my thoughts...

I wanted to help the moment this crazy plan was announced, but what can a simple explorer do? So i joined the PAC-discord and build myself a ship. The whole idea of "no guns" and "pull all with guns" was not appealing, but i hoped i could do something so i went along. The planning for this must have been crazy, so kudos for that. But then i heard about known gankers to "help" and all alarms went off. But what can a simple explorer do?

I was stationed in the bubble and tried to make a wing out of the few people in the instance. I finally managed to get 2 in the fleet that were able to join. We were scouting, boring stuff, but i managed to get myself into Raans path pretty good to even see him for a few seconds. With Salome... Once i relized she was avoiding the system the whole fleet was concentrating at, i tried to get ahead of her. Even managed to catch up! But no Salome... Only friendly or completely unrelated CMDRs to be seen. I then tried to get ahead of her to scout, but it was to late. I saw she was stuck in that system, that will probably get a tourist-beacon soon. And when rumors about what happened came through, i imidiately ordered my wing into Teorge. I knew what is out there from before. No need for them to get shot by gankers while scanning, so give them a heads up.

What did i learn? Hopefully the same thing as Frontier today: This game is not ready for stuff like that. The instancing seems so random.

About the whole "SDC to the rescue" thing? I voiced my concerns many pages here ago. Short version: There are people who don't care about this game. It's a tool for them. Nothing more. Trust them as far as you can throw them.

Am i sad? Not really. Yes, she is gone and i think thats a sad thing for the story overall. But 3 made it and one would have been enough i guess. Story will move on and i can now concentrate on what these messages are about.
