THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

Hi Folks,

Apologies for delay in responding, as 1, I was knackered, and 2, I've only just finished carting all my computers and network gear back upstairs where they belong.

I'm posting here first out of all possible locations because you are the folks who've been following this the longest and deserve the explanation first. A few things went awry last night (inevitably) and as a result of that not everything was as clear as I would have liked.

The objective of the chase was to reach the Tionisla system from 46 Eridani. All four protagonists had that goal. There they were to rendezvous with the Cor Meum Et Animam Cobra that was positioned in the 'Encrypted Transmission' tourist beacon (in lieu of not having a graveyard at this point in time).

That Cobra would (rather like the EAFOTS transmission in Galnet) give off a transmission, requiring the protagonists to seek the Teorge system, there to find the transmission logs left by Rebecca.

Tsu got there first, followed by Raan and Yuri. Unfortunately, due connection issues, we could not get the Cobra to instance correctly with the protagonists. Thus we had to give the clue manually. As you all know, the logs had already been found by this point (ironically) by one of you. Spoilers of course, but the show had to go on. Thus the message was revealed, but not in the way I had hoped or anticipated. The logs are server side content which had to be placed in prior to the event, so there was always risk this would happen.

Salomé was due to make one of her customary speeches on arrival, but alas, she was killed. More detail would have been contained therein. That avenue is now closed. We did intend to reveal some of that along the way, but it proved simply too hectic to do so - we had no let up during the 2 hours. It was constant and exhausting. Dozens of PvPers were interdicted out of Salomé's way by allied forces during that time.

Whilst Harry Potter did finish Salomé off, her ship was badly wounded after almost 2 hours of evading interdiction by hardened PvP players. Her hull was intact, but despite exhausting an AFMU (refilled twice) and using all our stored Jumponium, when she was interdicted that time she suffered fatal damage to chaff, weapons, and FSD drive. We also suffered from the wing partners not being able to dewake alongside, thus she was alone, damaged and without weapons or means to escape. The result at that point was inevitable.

Cheers,

Drew.

Thanks for the update Drew, and a big thanks to you, Erimus and everyone else who put so much effort into pulling the event together.

One question - the other characters also presumably have their own revelations to make.. (In particular, Raan Corsen has the Metadrive files.) What is happening with those aspects?

Hey Drew on the off hand chance you're still perusing this. Neptune Ryder, ring any bells ?

Old theory of mine that I just can't let go of (side note, I miss the days of tossing out ideas and everybody completely flipping out over a bit of Drew Rep).

Aliens, Rift, 29th Salome run result explained

Hello CMDRS!

Abstract:
This post will try to summarize some of the info we have so far on aliens together with recent Galactic event and Rifts mystery and produce cohesive theory. The messages from 29th of April 2017 from listening post will be taken into account.
In short: Entities with Super Powers have a cover up on aliens because humanity is doomed. Text bellow will have more details and reasoning behind.
Intro:

I am new to forums so would like to apologies for possible grammar and spelling issues as well as to poor writing style.
Taking into accounts messages that were read from the listening posts yesterday after Salome run event number of things start to add up together and cross confirm.
I would like to propose a hypothesis on what is going on in Galaxy as in concern to Aliens. I am not sure if something like this version was proposed before. This is invitation to general discussion on the subject and not in any sense final theory.

Hypothesis:
Alien Invasion happened before but was only a scouting operation:
In the past there was actual alien invasion already. Although it was extremely devastating it was still on somewhat limited scale. Invaders after number of relatively very easy victories through one reason or another simply disappeared. Most likely a parallel could be drawn between initial Mongol horde invasion into Kievan Russia. Huge army appeared on the border and after fighting with local army and defeating I, it did not go further invading and taking control of the land but rather without clear reason turned back. For years people thought that it was some random event and even that Devine intervention saved them. Turned out that huge army that defeated locals was nothing but a small scouting task force. Mongol armies returned in full strength only years later quickly capturing the lands they “scouted” before. It could be said that the same happened in ED. Aliens came seen and disappeared. Not like Kievan Russia, local powers did some preparations.
Undercover Preparations to War with Aliens:
Ruling factions within superpowers considered devastating effect of alien incursions and came to conclusion that in case such event happens in the future, Humanity has very little chance of surving. This is important point. Due to low chance of survival it was easily accepted by members aware of the issue that it is important to keep things quite. Still, the preparations for further invasions had to be done. Not publicly announcing extremely low chance of survival was a method to avoid panic and keep economy running for preparations of the war efforts. In order to provide excuse for extremely high budget spending on military, at some point conflicts between Super Powers were simulated. This allowed construction of many capital ships. Recent denouncement on limit capital ships each power can have (so called London treaty if my memory serves me right) allowed for construction of even more ships. This was done in the light of alien footprint reappearance in the neighborhood of the inhabited bubble. Preparation efforts increased significantly after discovery of the UAs. Corporations received additional tasks of heavy burden that had to be never the less hidden from public eyes. Hence the economic recession forecasts on Galnet due to high expenditure of corps (especially on Research and Development). One of the guys in Salome team was in Metadrive. He was involved in audit (routine financial check to make sure things add up) that uncovered this Galaxy wide hidden agenda and he went for a run.
Plan B:
Despite the fact that Humanity economy was preparing for war it was very clear cut that chances of winning this war a very insignificant. It was decided to build something like a secret nuclear shelter. That’s were Rifts mystery comes into play. Back up plan was to make sure that at least part of humanity will survive and establish civilization in different part of space far from the bubble. For economical and secrecy reason evacuation would be limited to the relatively small number of people. Discovery expedition made sure that navigational beacons were deployed for easy navigation in process of evacuation. Earthlike worlds were found and seeded with equipment for effective restart of civilization. Those places were considered of most importance as they were last chance of humanity in case of invasion. Thus it deemed very reasonable for few at the top even to kill all members of Discovery expedition straight after project was complete. All this was made to make sure that doomsday shelters remain secret.
Some one from the mid tire of organizer became conscious and decided that humanity deserves to know. They/he/she left some clues that pinnacled in the listening outpost messages read at the end of 29thof April Event by Salome run partners. All this in light of aliens starting pre-invasion skirmish.
Once again, people at the top that are aware of the issue are sure of Aliens overwhelming strength. It would not be surprise that the actual invasion would take a form of whole region of alien space together with relevant infrastructure popping into existence next door to the bubble from another "place" or whatever you call it.

had it reconfirmed by multiple commanders now.

This is not the interdiction bug.

No local commanders or npcs

I went to Teorge for an hour and saw nothing like what you're describing. If it's a thing it has to be a thing specific to your instance.

The Teorge logs from Rebecca are dated to 3275. She visits a system with a history of cloning people the same year Salome is born and refers very assuredly to "her" leading us their. She also makes comparisons between her's and Salome's temperaments. All of that says Salome was a clone to me, one Rebecca created to ensure the truth came out. The fact that she spoke of all of this going on for decades, centuries even, in a log dated from 3275; just how long have the powers known?

For all that's been confirmed there's still little that is actually known. It would be nice to have some sort of confirmation as to whether or not there is more to be found that is currently in game... Or is the idea that we players are just given this information and are supposed to decide the story now? Is FDev waiting for us to react? How would weakening the major factions help anyone when the real threat is still the imminent arrival of an alien invasion? Most importantly, it seems we can't do anything to or about the thargoids yet because that content hasn't been delivered. How are we expected to react then, if that's what all this was meant to illicit?

The only reaction that makes sense right now is building one or two combat ships with mods (check on my personal list) and possibly helping Colonia to grow as fast as possible.

Weakening the major factions won't help at all.

I don't think attacking the major factions cap ships is a good idea but I don't see how reigning in power play leaders could cause harm. I'd like to put them all into chaos, personally. I'll also be focusing as much trade, bounty hunting, mission running, data selling and general BGS work towards independent factions. There are real limits, but just letting them walk away from this? No thanks. I've been jumping around with different weapon mods hoping to get an hyperdicted. There could be some special effects that get them do something, at least might stop them from just jumping away, or it might just be totally scripted [<--my personal inclination].

What's going to become of Raan's story, and the files he obtained about the FSD technology?

I really expected the event to coincide with some sort of new FSD. There's still 2.4

A bit off topic but, Seriously... has anyone been to The Thetis Gen ship yet?

Them log's are <cue many swear words> spooky!! Go there and check them out!!

That...fox!

I had her in my iron sights but she managed to evade my interdiction !
I bet she used one of these witch-tricks !
I almost smashed my mouse against the wall when she escaped!

No...it's me. I am a terrible PvPer ... :(

I'm out of rep. Stop! :D

Salomé's message was not delivered due to the outcome of the event. Players changed the story once again.

Cheers,

Drew.

So Drew, you're telling me my wingmates and I put together an entire organization, trained people, dealt with idiots, and traveled 800 or so light years as Yuri's close protection with a back up QRF force and private fuel rat assistance, successfully got Yuri to his destination with not a single scratch other than heat damage from a bad jump, for absolutely nothing other than some listening posts containing information we already knew?
