THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

Help!
I'm at the FRift Alpha base. Is there a recommended technique for accessing the data point half-way down the cliff? I only have one SRV!
and two more bases to visit....

I tried to use the ship data scanner but it raises the beacon but won't lock on to downlaod

Have you tried the new ship-datalink scanner? Otherwise you have to drive down the cliff a bit but with the low gravity you should be able to get back up...

there is a place you can use. drive at the edge to the right of the data-point while facing it. Then use the external cam to locate a small place where you can drive and hold.

From there you can even get the message that is way down. It was actually harder for me to come back from there, than get there

There's another message further down????? Where??? I thought the datapoint gave the 6th message?

I drove off the cliff, raised the beacon, scanned it & got the message Intel package prepared, downloaded it, reversed back onto the cliff edge. looked at my transactions panel - no intel package!! However I seem to have acquired Modified Consumer Firmware instead in my comms panel!!!!!

Now the beacon is inactive, I gather for 1 to 2 weeks? Think I'm going to raise a bug report.

As far as I remember the datapoint was scanable from the surface though one had to find the right spot. However, for one of the messages one had to drive the srv down the cliff...

Thanks! The datapoint is now inactive, I gather for 1 to 2 weeks, so I've raised a bug report. Will watch OA's video & try to get the 6th message, though maybe tomorrow- bit cheesed off at present!

Sorry for late reply, was busy. The data-point never gives the mission-logs. Those are different. But at Alpha, one is down-hill. Hard to get your SRV to hold while scanning. that whole place is misplaced. I am 100% sure it was never meant to be there. The central tower is even floating mid air! I went there after 2.3 hit to see if it is fixed. Looks like it will stay that way.

Are you sure - I can't seen anything about it on their FB page or thread? Maybe you mean they are being interviewed (recorded) for next week's show?

Can a single player do that or are you an entire faction at work ?

Single character but backwater system with weak opposition, so yes. Well above 60% for my faction now but need to wait until states align properly for takeover so just a waiting game now. It's hard and a grind, impossible against organised resistance, but doable. Getting them to then retreat and retaking the other planetary bases from the other factions will be just as hard and take longer but also possible if you are willing to spend the time on the grind.

What's your PMF?
I'm always happy to help out a fellow Rifter with some BGS work.

Not a PMF, just the ruling faction since day 1 as an independent democracy. Found it bothered me when I got back home to find it changed to a Fed corporate state. Banning tobacco so I couldn't have a cigar in the bar knocked me into BGS work.

I'll PM you details as the fed faction does have around half a dozen players in mobius expanding them but they haven't caught on to what I'm up to yet.

I just heard that Baroness Galaxy & Eisen (both CoR) will be on Lave Radio today, from 21:00 gametime, to talk about the 29th event.

What happened?

It's was Terminator meets Driving Miss Daisy.

Everyone knows the 10,000 hours rule. No amount of preparation and strategy and tactics is going to beat the 2000-5000 hours of pvp opponents experience except winging Salome with pvp players with 2500 hours at least of pvp experience under their belts. Even if the 4th guy had 10000 hours experience he can hardly protect three celebrity bricks.

A very British shambles where rank and celebrity outstip sense and sensibility.
Do you really want to go into battle with Liz and Phil leading the charge?

That's what happened!

No I'll resist commenting too much on the broadcast, my previous comments still stand. They did nicely avoid any blame for anything though, and it was amusing that anybody not willing to follow draconian rules and were unhappy with that were only people who came late. Mmmm. Little inaccurate.

On this post, I think stating it's a British shambles is slightly inaccurate if you heard the accents of the organisers.

So Canonn gets a faction, decals and a megaship. Rifters get.. Shafted?

Besides running spreadsheets and being a zombie manufacturer, what do they do now? Their thread is an absolute mess -- really hard to follow, and I've seen enough talk about file-dipping to make me want to vomit.

About Col 70:

If someone wanted to hide something that was in that sector, wouldn't they just.. permit lock that sector? Why build an easily skippable wall around it? Unless it's to dissuade those who have under a certain jump range.. What's the thinnest part of this "wall"? What's the shortest distance you'd have to make to get passed the wall and into the col 70 "bubble"?
