Update: What people are doing
The Rift thread has always been governed by Wagar's Uncertainty Principle:
You can know where you're looking, but not what you're looking for
OR
You can know what you're looking for, but not whether it exists in game
These are, to the best of my knowledge, the activities currently underway:
Search of EAFOTS for ELWs with beacons or some other indication that they're special - my apologies to the CMDR who has been keeping a log of scanned systems: I can't remember your name so I can't link you here
Search of systems in the vicinity of the Zurara for 'special' ELWs
Search of systems around 46 Eridani for reasons for Salome to have started her 'run' there
Search of systems around Col 70 Sector for 'something weird'
Search of the Bubble for local Galnet/Listening Post clues
I'm not going to go all Canonn and try to organize people into teams - we're independents and that isn't our bag - but feel free to talk amongst yourselves.
If there's anything else that you guys are up to, let me know and I'll add it to the list.

I'm about to (try to) be serious, so pay attention because it doesn't happen very often...
The first part of the Formidine Rift saga has come to an end, but there are clearly a whole lot of questions that remain unanswered. In addition, if I'm reading Drew's hints correctly (first time for everything, right?) then we, the Rifters, have the potential to create content by the act of investigation - if you look for it, they will build it, so to speak.
Right now, we're all kind of flapping around, speculating about anything and everything with no real direction and quite honestly, after following the Rift mystery for 18 months, this lack of direction really sucks.
So, I have a proposal for you all:
Let's quit the theorycrafting, tinfoiling and speculation for the moment and sit down and figure out what we actually know, and the questions we want answered. Once we have some kind of consensus ('herding cats' springs to mind) we can use that to create a new 'first page' of this thread. I say 'this thread' because I'd suggest we stick with it until the mods come along and unsticky it
Additionally, lets keep the Thargoids and Guardian ruins out of this thread - leave all that stuff in the Canonn thread so we're not duplicating things.

Stuff we know:
All the stuff from the Teorge logs and Zurara - which I'm not going to copy at this point.
Something in the Rift appeared to drive the Dynasty mission guys crazy
Salome is dead - confirmed by Drew 'Machiavelli' Wagar, so we can assume she's still alive
Somebody rescued Salome from the prison convoy
Stuff we don't know:
Formidine Rift
What the Rift 'threat' is and whether it's truly a threat?
Is the "Rift threat" the same as the threat the Dynasty conspiracy tried to counter with the Dynasty expedition?
Is the Teorge information correct?
Who is behind the Dynasty expedition? (See also 'Shadowy Organization')
Is the Rift still relevant, or have we mined that seam out?

Who is behind Salome's rescue?
Why was Salome special (1)? - Octavia and the body swap
Why was Salome special (2)? - What made her running around in the Rift a threat, where we Rifters can do it with impunity

Who is involved in this conspiracy who is in power today?
Are they really working to the interests of all humanity or to a small elite group?
Are the major factions directly involved in this conspiracy or are they being fooled as well?

What happened to Commander Falchion, and what link (if any) do they have to Metadrive? - I have no idea who this is
Where did all those Sirius Corp automated exploration probes go?
Why was Salome near 46 Eridani? What was she looking for in that area?

What happened to the meta alloys and tantalum?
Other stuff
We could, if we wanted, run around the Rift (and Hawking/Conflux) looking for ELWs and beacons, but I think that whilst finding them might be fun (assuming there's anything there) they're 'old news' and not going to tell us anything we don't already know.
If anyone has any other facts or questions the feel free to add them - but at this point I'm going to ignore any theories or speculation

Do think it's an assumption that colonia is in a better site than the dynasty sites. All we have found are the temporary sites for the initial scouting team, not any subsequent colonisation

The powers behind Dynasty might have arranged Jaques' misjump ... prompting a natural migration to a new center of human population.
Or, more likely, some other protector accomplished that. Colonia = Dynasty without the murderous conspiracy.

The question, without tinfoil, would then be: Have we found all incidents that are related to the "Rift Mystery".
Are we looking at the right direction?
But that doesn't align with what we have seen. Until now, we still have to witness (or read) the first deaths from those interdictions. The burning and acid sprayed Corvettes are just disabled - or so i strongly believe. The reports about the missions with the Oresrians have never really been confirmed, nor denied (although, since it's an Oolite book, i guess that theory is out of the window). But apparently the Oresrians worked with some organization (i think it was GalCop) on that Virus. It may very well be, that those are not Thargoids, but Oresrians and they are just "looking around" and assessing our capabilitys. Also, it would explain why some sections of space are just cut off - maybe it's Oresrian space.
The truth will come via multiple routes! (Did you know that radio was invented by 3 different people-an Italian called Marconi, a Russion called Popov, and a Yorkshireman called Emley who left a large mast in place on't moors)
Someone reported from looking at the logfiles (not strictly file dipping so he was let off with an admonition and a reduced biscuit ration for a week) that the hyperdictions have an attached count which appeared to increment if the flower ships were shot at. A little meta thinking suggests that's a clear indication of FD setting us up to either start the next war, or tick off potential allies against the real threat. One thing I like about FD is the subtlety they exhibit at times; one thing I dislike about FD is the subtley, cos sometimes they are just toooo subtle!
Depends - and it also takes time. Did you also know that Edison wasn't the one who used Metall as fillament in lightbulbs and that Siemens made tantalum light bulbs by 1902? Our FSD's are just huge light bulbs!
Most of the time though, a lot of details get burried by corporations, making money and getting fame...which is a shame. I have yet to encounter my first hyperdiction and flowership. (you know what would be really cool? If we had a way to compare the wave forms on those ships and see, if those ships are the same or different ones)
But - since it was HP who found the first USS in Merope, i guess war is now inevitable [where is it]
I prefer to view it as scientific thinking - proofing and falsification of information.
If we want to start from the beginning every information needs to be examined.
@DrewC... as the leader, will you be issuing badges? I'd really like a badge. A real one, without the safety nonsense you get nowadays.

Your random pilots coming back from the rift can be dismissed as rumours or the prattling of the space mad.
When she talked people LISTENED, and despite being stripped of her title had the potential to gather the resources of and entire system. If people had a solid lead on something that would prove Salome's innocence, Loren's Legion might still respond to that summons.
By the way what did happen to all that tantalum?
It would be ridiculous if it was intended to build new style FSD and powerplant for a particular ship... wouldn't it?
