**Mod hat offski**

Before continuing down this route, would it be a good idea to check with the Copyright and Intellectual Property owners prior to "hijacking" this?

Just a thought.

Yeah, it can't possibly matter unless MassiveD or others attempt in some way to profit from this, or somehow libel Drew in some way. I mean, if "retconning" things in an internet forum or Youtube video is a problem, then K-Rose is in a whooole heap of trouble ;):

Obsidian Ant told that the event was set up to make it possible to catch the VIPs. They were supposed to linger a while, in some systems on the way.

If Salomé had cleared her friends list and just set off in a fast scooping ship, no one could possibly have killed her. There would have been no event at all.

By the way, since Salome exists in the game itself, wouldn't it mean that it's free-for-all to write about her in a book?

No matter the answer, this is not about burning bridges to begin with, ill release the final video about this in a few days time, and elaborate on what I mean by that

Nobody can stop you from writing such things - it's in the distribution of them that you can run into issues.

I can't speak for Drew, but FD does have some guidelines on creating game related content like fan fiction that were issued a long time ago. You would need to contact the community managers to get those guidelines. If I remember correctly, it's along the lines that you can do this as long as
a) You credit appropriate IP owners with the concepts (game / galaxy / lore) that you are referring to.
b) You do not seek to gain commercially from it.
c) You do not bring the IP owner into disrepute by it.

Edit: If you did want to profit from it by selling a book, this is an entirely different matter and you would need specific permission from the IP owner I think.

I'm just going from memory so please don't take my word for it - contact FD and Drew to make sure they don't have an issue and get the detailed guidelines.

An author, in order to gain profit from said story, would have to get authorization from Frontier since they are the intellectual property owners. Drew simply has a writers license to tell a story within elites' universe. Any and all characters are owned by Frontier. Drew can copywrite the story plot he wrote in and of itself, but not the elements..such as characters, locations, ships, etc, etc since he used Frontiers material to base his story around. Much like any one writing a Star Trek novel, the writer does not own the character Captain Kirk.

Understood, perfect, I already know how to make this work :p

Thank you for the information

Part 3 - Massive D and Drew in an exclusive interview, where they come to an accord, embrace, and sing Kumbaya for ten minutes... :D

If Salomé had cleared her friends list and just set off in a fast scooping ship, no one could possibly have killed her. There would have been no event at all.

Which is one of the reasons why the event format was totally and utterly inappropriate and unfit for purpose. The entire event was fatally flawed at the conceptual level, and compromised by the game mechanics on execution. Anyone with an open mind, and not set on having the event in the first place would have nixed the idea straight away and a different idea planned. One that did not need so much fudging or that the game mechanics would actually work for.

(borrowing from a previous post of mine)

It's like on the apprentice TV show where lets say the team are looking for a cool idea for storing a hot liquid. One of them then chirps up "I know we'll make a chocolate tea pot, the customer can then eat it afterwards"

There is then a cheer from the team who go "OMG what a fantastic idea", bar a couple of guys who say "for the love of god don't do it" but these are ignored because well it's a fantastic idea no one has ever done before...

The team then spends a huge amount of effort, bringing in extra help, training them, trying to make sure the gobby 'game playing, backstabbing so and so is curtailed' and pulling late nights until it's deadline day and guess what.. when it comes to the boardroom they find it's still a chocolate teapot.

You've posted that chocolate teapot idea so many times now that I'm beginning to contemplate it's actually a good idea ;)

Lol, i'll buy two. I use it because it's the easiest to visualise example of an idea running ahead of the reality and taking on a life of it's own. We've all done it, the smarter of us only ever do it once then we listen to subject matter experts who know more about stuff than we do

I dont really care about Salome et al , just that the effects of the events has messed with at least 2 player groups, promoted the exploits of the anti-community, while diminishing the efforts of those who wanted to help and further more put people off either organising or attending open events ever again

Repped!

I love that Idea! If the majority of the playerbase is dissapointed about the way the event went and the story ended, let's use our fantasy and numbers to just alter the story. :D
I mean, a story is a story and we can choose to tell it the way we want. :p

Also, this seems to annoy her killer, enough reason to go with the flow. The Rebellion lives!

So, from now on I will tell anyone that Kahina Loren is alive. Salomé died, since the mission is over. But Kahina lives. Faking your death is a really good way to lose attention.
Boy this is fun. :D

Let's get a few things straight.
1. Salami is dead.
2. SDC did it (as a team) through weeks of planning and infiltration, out-skilling and out-thinking our opponents every step of the way (as usual).
3. We were already an official part of the lore, and now play an even greater role, much to your chagrin.
4. This video and others like it proclaiming "conspiracy" are clickbaity exploitation, capitalizing on player's emotions, devoid of actual content or proof.
5. There is nothing you can do to change any of this. We win.

+1

obsidian speaks the most sense.

you only have to look at the how it played out to see this is how it went down. salome had hundreds and hundreds of people on her fiends list and pve players escorting her ... yet she STILL got to within 6 jumps of her destination before she was finally pinned down and caught. it was a chase event drew wanted, not a game of galactic hide and seek that was impossible to win! the other characters were in the bubble in short time because if people are honest, salome was the prize and was the easiest to track due to all her massive friends list.. the others, who cared about chasing them? how many were on their list? not me for sure.
