hello
it's almost mid may

Luckily we are already on 2.3.02 which even came out before May.

Just saying.

They promised an update in early May. Not my fault if they gave us one in late April instead, right? ;)

The early May update was promised on April 20th. Version 2.3.02 landed on April 27th. Frontier pushed out the patch early to accommodate Drew Wagar's Premonition event. Where's the applause for closing some of the worst bugs ahead of schedule?

EDIT: And here's the early May patch: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/349443-Xbox-One-Update-Xbox-Update-2-3-02

XBox got the patch in early May the rest of us were blessed to get it early.

See that's just it...some of the worst bugs were NOT really fixed ahead of schedule. They were reported two months earlier at the very beginning of the early access period. They persisted through five beta updates, and Frontier decided to release them into the live game anyway, right before a four day holiday weekend. At best, it should get an about damned time, but certainly not applauded.

Oh, and the 21:9 aspect bug with the GalMap and System maps is still not fixed even though it was reported back in 2014, and has been regularly reported since then.

Early May.

Can we just get some 2.4 news to bring some hype back to the community because I am bored out of my mind at this point. If I wasn't headed to the center of the galaxy, I wouldn't be playing this game at all...

While I want to see what the promised 2.3.1 patch will bring and am very interested in what 2.4 will add to the game, I want Frontier to take their time for these, since I'd rather have a late patch than a buggy patch.

Does not stop from being open about content though.

The problem with being open with content is that as a developer that ties you down to what you need to deliver, so most developers tend to only talk about patches when they are reasonably certain that they can deliver what they are telling the end users about. Otherwise you're going to get hammered with all kinds of negatives reactions when you have to drop something because it isn't ready on time.

There is a comprise between complete silence, not knowing 1 tiny detail and promising the world.

Its kind of odd that they suddenly have put the lid on completely.
FD, so far, have always been open to tell what's on the agenda and what they are working on.

I disagree: There was plenty of silence in the period before the large patches, people were bringing up the lack of communication at those times too. It just feels differently now because 2.3 was in beta for such a long period of time and they communicated about that patch for a longer period of time than they normally do.

In general I noticed that they start communicating about a patch roughly a month before they plan to drop it and before that it's pretty much radio silence apart from some responses to specific questions on the forums (not having to do with the upcoming patch but discussing issues and/or gameplay mechanics that they are thinking about for the longer term).

My guess is that they will start communicating again around the time of E3, for the PS4 release and maybe giving us the first hints for 2.4.

seriously i don't know wt* is going on with FD
it's the first time they act like complete incompetent team
did ea or ubi take over?
a bug should be fixed within hours
not 1 month and still not 1 word about the fix
i fear for the game now

Dev communication has always been a little bit of a sore spot. I mean, I understand why dates slip...it happens all the time. They need to be better about remembering what they have promised the community and following up on a regular basis. Just a simple, "We are still crushing bugs for you but it looks like it is going to take us into late-May before the patch comes out" would be sufficient for me.

Indeed.

I expect 2.4 has been in the works for a while now. There is no reason why frontier can't give a summary, which doesn't have to be complete, of what to expect. They don't have to go into detail.
