Quince is even more broken than we tought

What's the current state of the quince system? Is it in Civil War? We need push notifications to our phones. ;-)

I passed through there earlier today and spent a couple of hours mission running. Some boards gave me around 20 million for the surface scan trip, but others only 1 or 2. It was a worthwhile visit.

This scenario is not unique to this system. I found another system called "Quence" where one can find the same earning potential and types of missions.

Weird...

So I've never really done one of these "make lots of credits fast" methods, but tonight I flew up to Quince to try my hand at this and see what it's all about. Even transferred my Sidewinder up too. Had to pay a few donation missions in order to get up to cordial but after that I started doing data scan jobs. These seem to be some of the easiest data scan jobs I've ever done, the bases are so passive and care free, they hardly even bother to attack you! And yeah, in Mobius the system is full of commanders doing the runs, mostly in Sidewinders, it's actually quite festive and friendly! I not only made over 100 million credits tonight (that's more than I normally make in months!) but I had a lot of fun, all of us flying our Sidewinders and running around in the SRV's carrying on, lots of banter and chatting too.

Twas a very good time, though I have to say the routine is a tad mind numbing. I'm gonna head out exploring again for a bit but I might do this again if it doesn't get patched out.

You have to wonder what will Frontier do ?
The discrepancy in account balances for exploit and non exploit players is huge now. 50 billion one person admitted to exploiting.

Anything Frontier bring out now based on credits is broken because of the exploits of the past.
Just makes me wonder what they plan to do to fix the problem. If anything.

Likely the same thing other games do in such a common situation (one currency becoming meaningless): produce new currencies of one flavour or another.
Materials for engineers? That's rather precisely what that's about, IMO. With credits beyond devalued they couldn't/can't make them the currency for any mechanic in the future.

Forget Frontier; it's the Empire I feel sorry for. They're now going to have about 25,000 new Princes and Kings; all of whom will require jobs, ships, stipends, etc.

[big grin]

Thats quite a good point not only are credits devalued now but so are the ranks for the major factions.

Spent about 3 hours last night mining for some engineer.Somewhat tedious I know but fun nevertheless. Now during this entire time my game and game play experience was not effected one Iota from other players account balances. It made no difference to me or the chances of me finding Pannite whether or not player X has 50 Billion or Trillion in his or her account.

It was broken to begin with...

What people forget here is; ED is a game! It's not a job, it's not a simulator, it's a game. Games provide fun. Or are supposed to.

Lets look at ED gaming avenues without Quince/Robigo/other places people keep to themselves :D

Mining: Yawn, boring AF, Credit Income = crap
Exploring: I can see the fondness of this, but it is boring, and Income = crap
Bounty Hunting: great game play, Income = crap
Ranking: A pure and simple grind fest, with the only thing to look forward to are other ships. The actual merit of being any Navy rank is Zero. There is no other benefit than gerttign ships. Even the last 2 ranks are absolutely pointless.

So, from what I see; FD/Braben's idea of a 'game' is to make 'players' do pointless task for pointless credit.

I've played many, many games since the invention of games, and ED, is the most grindiest and pointless of them all.

FD need to go back to the drawing board and decide do they want to create a game or simulator. Trying to do both is wasting their time, and ours.

Quince? Bring it on. A full fleet of ships playing Elite Dangerous MY way :D

I thought Quince was fixed?
So you can still take many scan missions? And complete them in one place?
Passenger missions still "broken" ?

The funny bit for me is how the people taking advantage of glitches like Quince are the same people who will complain that the game is shallow and that they did everything there is to do, then ask about more "end-game" content, just before posting here that they are done with Frontier and its inability to make the game engaging.

Realizing that the game isn't about "having the biggest ship" nor "the most money" is half the rent.

There was end game content. It was the BGS. But now FDev has gotten involved in it and kittened it up up royally.

People will like you will keep playing this broken record until the inevitable entitlement conclusion is anyone playing +1 hour more a week than someone else is 'exploting' their ability to turn time --> earnings

Player A has double the time as B...exploit!

Your conclusion is also broken because you base your conclusion on 'exploits' of the past as reason why anything FD bases on credit now or in future is broken, yet you self define what the past 'exploits' are.

You know what a real exploit is? Someone taking a mission labeled as 1M reward, finding some loophole, key combination press, or actual code hack that results in receiving 2M when you turn it in. Someone taking advantage of a game mechanic EVERY SINGLE other player is welcome to also use - or not - is simply player choice.

You don't like fast credits? Completely valid opinion, and don't do X, Y, Z or whatever it is that you think rewards you too much. Don't like someone else does what you don't want for yourself? Replace 'exploit' with 'nanny'.

When FD comes out and says triple clicking really fast to trick the mission board is a loophole around the intended game mechanic, I will accept that as an exploit of unintended gameplay. When the nanny state players keep yelling 'exploit' over whatever latest outrage they find offends their sense of personal play style, it's just bonus amusement how hard one group tries to ensure no one else derives any satisfaction over whatever they deem as the new prohibition.

Not at all my stance on this.
I am all for a player with more time than me to play the game earning more than me.
I am all for increased payouts for gold rush states within the game.

I am against exploits. This type of mechanic was called an exploit by the Dev who codes the missions which are being exploited.
Its also obviously an exploit of unintended game mechanics.

My other musings are just about how will Frontier counter the excessive amounts of credits some players have exploited via these unintended mechanics.
There is no debate anymore about if this is an exploit or not. That was confirmed.

It's been answered already. Like in every single other mmo, it'll be addressed through a new currency that nobody has stockpiled yet. See engineer mods for an ED example of currency switch.
