One-time gamesave copy PC to PS4?

You can request a transfer through support. As far as i know they will do a one time transfer of your credits and credit value of your ships. All ranks, faction standings, and other progress will be lost, but hey at least you get to keep your credits!

Are you sure? I ask because while people might 'understand' that this is the case it is not covered in the FAQ. The FAQ states:

Can I transfer my CMDR save to the PS4™ from my PC, Mac or Xbox?
We understand this is a desired request but we have nothing to announce at this time.

So...does this include a credit transfer or not? I would argue it means you CANNOT transfer ANYTHING...Brett????

The key point there is SAVE. This has never been possible, what has been possible is transferring assets (credits only of your net worth, all your cash and cash invested in ships/modules) from Xbox <> PC. If its been done on those platforms it would be safe to assume it would apply to PS4 although they could stop doing such transfers. Its an unanswered one (to add to the list).

As a PC player I'm now wondering if moving to a PS4 platform might be justified. As a backer I went through the growing pains of a unstable environment plus earlier on it was very difficult to make any cash plus multi Station docking crashes. I rarely encounter any actual cmdrs and when I do they never interact any way . I( play in open play. The whole game with solo and the large Mobius group its so fragmented. I think that might be the real reason no oner encounters anyone

IS CQC popular on XBOX after all it was created specifically for the COD crowd. IT had esport potential but again hardly everr any matches and no team work.

Reading this now, I am in two minds. A one time transfer of assets, so you lose them on the platform you are coming from and they are transferred to the new one makes it less likely people are going to hop between systems. But then as I understand it, it has become easier to make money so why bother, if you want to play on more than one platform just work for them on PS4. I doubt they will do transfers right at the start as they will know the effect; they aren't daft.

There is no "effect", the universe is huge, new players can spawn in safe areas. Frontier know the effect as new PC players started when the game was put on sale AFTER all the kickstarter players had already been playing it for a while....will be no different on PS4 with PC transfers.

Not correct. The effect is certainly significant. Ganking Engineers and CG's is a favourite of overpowered ships and players. So throw a bunch of noobs trying to get to the grips with the game into a scenario with another player with an immediate 5 billion in credits and you get trolling. The UNIVERSE might be huge - The ED galaxy is big, but there are known bottlenecks and these are the locations that get exploited. So. Waht happens - people drop out of OPEN and we all know where that road leads....

I have already stated i think its a bad idea...but... If i were in Sony's shoes - anything that pulls a gamer off a PC and puts them in a Playsatan is good news! But i would definitely want it to be a one way port only - you dont get to go back. That said - and as someone (Stormy maybe) earlier pointed out - Microsoft already have extensive experience with PC and Xbox - so why wouldn't they do it if it was so easy...?

I'm assuming the general answer is never going to be NO (too defintive for Fdev) but i don't think we will see it happen.

True, true. I really wouldn't allow transfers for the gameplay reasons, but is profit strikes, then I guess? Also, It was likely a typo but the only reason I won't call Playstation Playsatan is because I first got into gaming on an original Playstation. Repped for the typo.

Now that we have a launch date, I'm sure more details will follow. FDev, Mods, we would really like to know if one-way networth (not gamesave) transfer from PC and/or Xbox will be available for people moving to PS4, and if yes, when.

Noob's would not be going to CG's or engineers as they would need to build up some credits first by trading, exploring or fighting.

Like I said before...if what you are saying is true no one would buy it on PC any more.

Not necessarily true - you can go visit before buying but the principle is the same in any event - advantage over disadvantage.

And the discussion is not whether ppl buy but whether people leave OPEN and go SOLO.

It's not right that some veteran commanders (especially xb1 cmdr who have similar controllers to ps4) should transfer anything over to ps4, last thing we need is a bunch of hotheads flying around in supped up warships and scaring the hell out of us new ps4 commanders on day one. i understand that the majority won't shoot, but with a small minority who would KOS any noob that is flying round trying to make an honest in buck, is it really fair?

my solution would be to have a 6 months embargo on all transfers (saves/assets), and give us ps4 commanders a shot at making some money to get on par with the pc/xb1 veterans

Totally agree but I would make the embargo somewhere between two weeks and a month. Six months seems a bit long.

well i have nothing to share with you at this time about something that may or may not be important to the information you obvious won't share today, but maybe tomorrow we can look in to these important issues and come up with a work around so no fake news can be used
