DualShock Controller

The article states the face buttons are digital*. The triggers, i.e. L2 R2, are, of course, still analog. You'll notice this playing Driveclub or even GTA V.

Seriously, does one of you even own a PS4?!

Actually the DS3 had analog X, O, square and triangle buttons, besides the triggers. Since very few developers used them, they made them digital in the DS4. The linked article says nothing different.

Sorry all, my bad. Clearly my PS4 is a figment of my imagination.

Good news then, snark notwithstanding. Not everyone plays GTA V ;)

Nowhere in that article are the triggers mentioned. That article is about the face buttons (X, 0, Triangle, Square). I'm on PC using Input Mapper and when I do the Xinput Test, it shows the triggers are analogue with 256 values (0 to 255) each.

I've already been admonished and apologised, but thanks anyway.

I think you're losing this battle RecluseMonkey. Time for you to tap the mat, while you still can [noob]

I for one appreciate the extra verification that L2 / R2 retain their analog (pressure) capabilities. And Monkey needed a good shakeup after rattling my cage with his fake news, LOL.

The moon landings were staged you know. Trouble is, they got Kubrick to do it and he's such a perfectionist he insisted they did it on location.

Glad we have sorted that out. Told you so. :p

Problem being triggers are really positioned for guns, to use those as throttle will be weird. But saying that I hsve found the throttle control on L1/R1 fine. Just takes practice.

Depends on what you are used to. I find R1 / R2 for guns, and L1 / L2 for throttle to be easier - one hand throttle, other hand guns. I speak based on other games I've played, not ED. That said, I can adapt to most schemes with enough practice, assuming the scheme isn't some bizarre unnatural mess (cough Dragon Quest Builders cough). Mass Effect had some oddball button assignments, but I got used to it.

I will take your advice and try DS4 on the Combat Demo. I don't get much time on the demo because I have to use a machine at work to run it, but I have spare DS4 I can bring and leave there and toy with on those mornings I arrive extra early. Come to think of it, I've been arriving at work extra early an awful lot lately...

Yeh the combat demo gives you a chance to try it, it is better in the full game though. Although I didn't spend time configuring the controls for the demo. I've pretty much fully mapped Xbox controls in the full game. I might try triggers as throttle to see if it's better.

I can't recall what PS3 game I played but it used triggers for something like throttle. It all went to hades in a hand cart because I'd get excited twirling my thumbs I'd accidentally hit my trigger and zip off in any old direction - couldn't get the fine tuning....
