News Elite Dangerous - 2.4 and beyond

I find myself excited about this news. And I am not going to let it be ruined by reading previous pages where the cabal of usual suspects is moaning and whining away. It is occurring right? Right?

Perhaps my imagination is running away with me but it all looks, and sounds, pretty damn good.
Course I'm a fanboi anyway.

It's most assuredly been all campfire songs and heartfelt apologies for previous transgressions.

Appreciate the communication, wish there was more than a reminder of E3. Ah well, just keep waiting until mid June. Same as before. :)

Add me to the list of folks pleased to hear of core gameplay improvements. I love the game as it is, but strengthening the foundation elements will both improve the existing experience and create a better platform on which to build future expansion, and that is a win for everyone.

So if post 2.4 is going to essentially be core mechanic improvements, bug fixes and QoL then my assumption is that this will be free and supported through cosmetic purchases in the store? How is that going to work with Lifetime Pass holders?

Also, Zac mentions that 2.4 is a 'little' update - is he being sarcastic? I paid for five full expansions, obviously 2.4 is going to bring Thargoids but I hope there is at least a decent amount of content especially after the dearth of content in 2.3.
I've paid my lifetime membership to be honest the expenditure is long gone I really don't give asp about when and if. I'm looking for playing a game that I have fond memories of from 1984. Ok my obsession then cost me my degree but if I had one I wouldn't have gone down the path I'm on now which thankfully has been fruitful. All I want is a slow steady increase in gameplay so far. Powerplay- nice try but a miss, CQC waste of time arcade elite some benefit To the Graphic addition to the main game. Engineers and planetary landings good additions unless you're special needs wanting alpha results on a roll. live with it, life's too short. Thargoids . Generation ships, mystery great bring it on
so ends the rant of the middle aged man with Karma

My reading of the corporate tea leaves re this, is that Frontier will after this season do updates of the core game as and when ready with this being without additional charge, but then release from time to time additional Chargeable DLC packs of content such as Gas Giants, Volcanic planets, or SRV variant packs.

For me this allows Frontier to build out the backbone of the game while still generating significant revenue streams. It also gives them a bit more time to develop the various DLC packs free from external pressures. Internal pressures and deadlines will still be in place, but we the player base wont be adding to it with heaps of Salt.

Render me surprised, in the most positive way.
Best ED news i've read since...well, since back in 2014 when i bought the game really.
Of course, we still need to see what exactly it all means on "ground level", but i do like the sound of this.

That would be my guess.

The are fixing the Condas cockpit??? I hope they are not going to do anything with those wires, I've been using them as a washing line, I'll have nowhere to dry my undies!!!

"One large element of this point update is a number of “under the hood” fixes which are designed to improve stability and performance, particularly on planet surfaces."

Does this mean HIP 22460 unlocked for crashed alien capital ship/caves/exploding barnacles thing for testing? Ooooh. Or maybe it's a 2.4 gradual affair.

"core gameplay, existing features, quality of life and other improvements"... Very happy to read this!

Thanks Zac, for the update.

Thanks for the communication - very much welcomed.

I hope 3.x brings more depth to game play and fixing existing bugs.

2.4 – “????”
I hope this doesn't result in "Alien Conflict Zone"....
