As one of their victims I've defended them in the past for keeping their word, following the code and being honorable pirates. No more. Now, when a cmdr sees "The Code" in comms, it means nothing.
If one of the last bastions of organized piracy in ED has cut itself loose from being anything better than cheap lulzbunnies this way, then player piracy is truly moribund.
My deepest sympathies to the few remaining true pirates out there. The Code were once a primary example for other players to point to when suggesting that future changes by FD to things like C&P and the proposed karma system should be approached carefully in order to not unfairly impact pirates. They'd been around since (before) launch, had remained steadfast in sticking to their avowed principles and stood as an example of players committed to maintaining piracy as a career within the ED galaxy.
With this change in direction I, for one, will no longer be considering that factor in providing feedback to any proposed changes in the game.
