I'm wondering if there exists an orrery for use to look at system maps in "3D" similar to the way the Galaxy Map is presented. The current system map is nice, but it's flat and does not show objects relative to each other in space.
Flying through a system with the orbit lines on gives some idea of how objects are related and their paths, but I want to be able to pull up a tool that gives a "birds-eye" view and let's me see where things are relative to each other and how everything orbits around.
There are some really unique and crazy systems I've encounterd. It would be helpful for us visual learner types to see it as a model you could manipulate and get an idea of distances between objects.
Any ideas if something like this already exists as a tool I could pull up in game? Is there the capacity to build something like this?
Just wondering...
