Help Me Find A New Game...

Well, i picked Medieval II Total War, but I've hit a slight snag.

My laptop screen is broken.

It won't go bright enough to actually see it, unless I'm in a dark room. Lol
(Which I'm not, I'm actually mostly outside)

So... I need a new laptop. :p

I really need to stop leaving my laptop in the car to freeze in the winter.... :p

I was disappointed with Mass effect 4 initially being a lifelong fan of the series however the new patch has made it so much better! I am really enjoying that now.. Good game if you like space themed games.

Ehhhh, that won't run on my laptop. Lol

My laptop is a grade A potato.

Adding the permanently dimmed screen to the list of issues it has.
It's got broken speakers, broken touch pad, broken dvd player, broken screen, and broken (but replaced) hard drive, 2 broken USB ports.
It's also on its 5th battery.
And it has dead bugs stuck inside the screen.

Seems like you didn't care for your laptop at all, now you're reaping the fruits of that :) See? A karma system in elite is needed! *duck'n'run*

I can associate with that. My laptop screen (17 inch) seems to flex slightly if its stored in a cold place. When it warms up its fine, but in between you have to hold the screen and apply pressure in the right place to overcome the flex. No problem in ED because i play on the TV.

Lol it was a hand-me-down from my brother.

Surprisingly, it's in better condition now.
:p
(I do really look after it, except for leaving it in the car all winter!)

But it is 6-7 years old now, it's travelled the world with my brother, and been dropped in probably every place his visited.
Then it became my work entertainment, and lived in my car for lack of a better place to keep it (complete lack of storage in my flat!).
It gets driven everywhere, bounced around, frozen, baked, infested with midges, it's even gotten wet.
And it still works (mostly). Lol

I used to think Acer were crap, but man, my next laptop is gonna be an Acer.
My brother's HP laptop he brought to replace this one, has already had more problems, and it's not even fast, or that old. Lol

What Remains of Edith Finch - easily game of the year although just around 3 hours long. Dunno how it's played on a laptop but it's a UE4 game.

Edit: Didn't see Alien Isolation there... ;) 12 hours or so long and is very optimized.

I don't play a lot of video game other than Elite so I can only recommend my two other go-to games that I tend to play if not flying the Galaxy:

Kerbal Space Program and The Long Dark

I'll be honest: I prefer the planetary landings in Kerbal over Elite: Dangerous. Much more fun when you actually have to fight against Sir Isaac Newton. Kerbal also has Space Legs :)

Galactic Civilizations III, or X-Com 2.

They're both excellent games, and they're both turn-based, which is a plus to playing at work.

An old warcraft game, Anno 1404, Lord of the Rings: battle for middle earth, rollercoaster games, sims.

And if youd like ro try a hard game try "I wanna be the Co-op" its a 2d mario like style game that can either be played offline or low bandwidth 2 player and can both be downloaded or played in browser.

Maybe check out sunless sea, its like Ports of Call meets Call of Cthulhu. It does get a bit stale for me, but then I could Never play a Tycoon game.

Also, if you haven't already, turn your laptop into a shrine to Armok by installing the free and completely amazballs Dwarf Fortress.
