Small Worlds Expedition 2!

I will do the path as soon I get home. 40 000 LY to Colonia. Then back to Bubble, and buy a Eagle.
I'm going to start doing the travel after everyone has reached the last area

what did I miss? I can't get to the 4th checkpoint because it says I am missing a permit. did I miss something?

Where you are located there is a permit locked zone (COL 70 is permit locked still).
Easiest way to get over to NGC 1333 is to head back towards T Tauri / bubble and then swing around.

Is it okay if I do the whole trip but at a later date ?
I'm coming back and will soon be at Colonia. I intend to buy an Eagle, then move to the starting point of expedition
And do it. But I might need days/weeks until I can start doing the Expedition trip.

It's ok if we do it but... late ?

So I am at GMM2008 22 and it isn't the system pictured in the waypoints. Is there more than one system with the name GMM2008 22? And if so where is the correct one :p

yes; sorry, in announcements on the discord but forgot to update people here; there are in fact two GMM2008 22s.
We are at the one that is directly underneath the NGC 1333 nebula

Questions:

1) Will a search of NGC 1333 produce a result in the game?
2) If not, could you provide the galactic coordinates for the system?

I have a sneaking suspicion that I may have logged off three jumps from the wrong system last night. :(

Where are we "swinging around" to? I'm having problems plotting to either ngc 1333 and/or lbn623.

Heading back to T Tauri now, but any help (or a list of waypoints) would be helpful.

sesriously confused

But we have finished with waypoint 3. Launch was at 19:00 (game time).
Next waypoint (wp 4): LBN 623 Sector FW-W D1-100

target VOLKOV in galaxy map. the correct GMM2008 22 is a stones throw from there. either zoom in and select it or nav to volkov and use the nav mune to pick GMM2008 22

Thank you kindly. Finally getting to log in for today, so I'll be finding out if I'm still slightly behind the main group, or REALLY behind the main group. I could travel a lot faster, but I keep making side trips to check out the sights. ;)

You're only slightly behind, as the main group only left that waypoint last night.

On which subject, I actually got a reasonable video of the hyperspace departure. I've never seen so many ships in one instance. :) I'll try to process it later and upload somewhere.

So here is a short video of everyone hyperspacing out from WP3. Hopefully I'll be a little more organised next time and actually be prepared (it was fluke that I caught it, as I was cooking tea at the time!!).

Turned out the world I had set down on the night before was a string of unmemorable numbers and letters starting with NGC 1333, so I knew I was on the right path. Made it to the waypoint around 23:50, and met up with a few fellow stragglers who had the same idea.

Afterwards, since I was in the neighborhood anyways, I took a detour to the California Nebula, and settled down on a moon, overlooking a ringed gas giant, which was silhouetted against the nebula's red glow. I took a few pictures, but I'm at work right now, and I didn't think to upload them this morning. ;)

What? Oh for goodness sake (that is the clean version) - thanks for sorting this expedition out and all but now we have to backtrack all the way to WP1.

Didn't someone check the route?

Well depending on your jump range you might not need to backtrack that far. I for example diverted via Sigma Orionis and didn't need to backtrack, but I have a 43Ly range.

This is exploration, not tourism, so expect to have to plot your own routes and not be entirely spoon-fed the whole way. And in exploration terms this is a kindergarten walk. Crossing the Abyss in a 30Ly ship, now that's a challenge.

As Vertical Blank mentioned; we can't hold everyone's hand. There is nothing that is meant to be "easy" the whole way through. SWE is meant to show people cool locations, and also teach along the way; teach challenges you may run into etc. when you actually go [properly] exploring.
And we're doing just that.

I have a 30Ly ship and was able to plot straight to it from WP2, you just have to set yourself up and know where the permit locked sectors are. Hence why I advised it's easier to go back towards WP1; versus trying to explain how to shortcut through between permit locked zones, which I did explain to those who asked. (but it's doable, we had quite a handful of people do it actually).

Evidence that it's doable; and it was checked beforehand actually (because I did it)

It isn't the safest route as you have to understand the risks, and there are quite a lot of unscoopables in the area which aren't helpful (not to mention it's easy to get stuck in a permit zone too).
Again, this is why I recommended most people to go back towards WP1 to cross the gap, as it is likely easier

Except those that like the challenge.

See routes plotted on left to WP3 thanks to EDSM tracking; I know of at least 10 people that did it.
