Acceptable argumentation

A British solution to this would be to dig out that entire chunk and put it in a museum, writing "The steps of Power" over the monter.

The American solution is to dig out that entire chunk, chop it up in little pieces and sell to highest bidders.

I guess an old an extensively used building never going to be look like a new one, but somehow it does not looks like properly maintained.

And about Red tape? There is a single politician in history, who did not campaigned with bureaucracy reduction? this is #1 campaign promise on the top 10 of all times.

Seriously, we have steps and stairs like that in the place I work at, it's just natural erosion of stone paving, the only real danger is if you let algae grow on the steps so they become slippy (which it looks like they're not). Otherwise it's too shallow to be a tripping hazard, it's not a problem.
