Alien archeology and other mysteries: Thread 10 - The Canonn

My old military mind went to "assets" meaning either: 1. People you have within another group or organization (i.e. either someone you've embedded in a group, or someone already in the group that you've recruited to provide information to you). As in "we have an asset in the Frontier Development Group that reports to us through back channels" (don't we wish!!): 2. In some contexts the crew themselves may be considered "the assets" (e.g. "the biggest asset of the ship is its crew"). That might change the tone of "liquidating the assets". Were the crew liquidated by someone already on board the Cap ships rather than by the attacking ships? And the term "liquidated" generally also carries a different connotation than "killed in action". Trying to look at the wording from some different angles.

I think of "assets" in this sense as in:
1. Valuable.... not the crew. A crew is expendable. In this sense as I think we need to look at this as the ships and crew are a way and means to an end...
2. The assets are either data (Palin's) or high-value target individuals (human) or alien life forms....; or
3. Alien tech, a ship, etc.

The crew of these ships exist only to deliver their cargo. If there is trouble at a certain critical level, elimination of the crew could be protocol to protect the secret. I think that the assets are likely either the stolen data or as likely, alien life or tech. To protect the secret, even the object is to be destroyed. Age old human trait... "If I can't have it, you won't either.".

Whoever send the message was an "asset" of the shadow entity behind this entire escapade. But that entity asset was watching over something far more valuable. "Suicide" mission if it comes to it. Destroy the cargo/assets and possibly yourself, if necessary. This was no cleanup. If it were, everything would have been vaporized to leave no evidence of any kind. This discovery is a "mistake" or a "plant".

Are the space polyps mentioned in that article different from the giant 'space-pumpkins' that we have known about for a while? I forget where they were located, but there was a large field of them very near a surface base in the Pleiades, I think..?

*edit* - Link to space-pumpkins on youtube https://youtu.be/pfmiqfpr_rA

YES these were found AGES ago! I remember going there and marvelling at them, have they grown though?

Love it. There could be a grand grand irony on the way here:

- The guardians create the Thargoids
- Thargoids destroy Guardians
- Thargoids encounter humans
- Humans create Mycoid to destroy Thargoids
- Thargoids survive and repurpose Mycoid to destroy humans (perhaps in the UPs?)
- Humans learn how to defeat Mycoid to protect themselves (MAs)
- Ad infinitum

Or something.

I would add before your final bullet point
- humans get thargoids addicted to biscuits
- humans surreptitiously swap the biscuits for cream crackers

So according to people who did an interview at ER with FD. They said those "bases" on the planet we saw in the unknown trailer are in game right now. May I suggest we get looking? I cant imagine there THAT hard to spot... there big massive bases with green fog... :D

EDIT this may be a stupid theory... but hear me out. Merope 5C has been the center of attention for almost 2 years now.... and these new bases/crashed ship on planets are in game. UA point to merope star. and UP point to 5C while also beaming information to it. Whos to say these new bases are NOT on 5C?

Got a link to that? Because other sites have either said they will be there in time, or ambiguous.

Fairly certain they're not in yet :

Neither Braben nor Sammarco would comment on what it was that I was looking at, only to say that when these structures are added into the game they won’t be giving any hints as to where they are among Elite’s 400 billion star systems. It will be up to the players to find them on their own.

Mycoid isn't just a virus. 'Mycoid virus' is more a name given for it's ability to spread at viral pace.
The main component is fungus like, but it is an engineered hybrid organism.
It may contain an endovirus as a controll mechanism.

Exactly what leads me to believe the Alliance would be working on the successor to the Mycoid, if they're harvesting fungal clusters in the California Nebula

That says:

Bah, too slow :)

Since these things were in the 2.3 and ps4 trailers, I'd hazard a guess that they may be activated with the upcoming patch to keep us busy in the wait for 2.4 (and add some hype for the new ps4 players). That is, unless the "when" was two months ago and they're in already :)

Perhaps they already made a vaccine and gave it to the goids and that's why they are flying again?

Did you know that Mycoid was originally designed as a waste management product? It's speciality was to break metallic compounds and alloys down to their pure elements.

Barnacles seem to do similar stuff. Thargoids may have found something usefull to do with the pest we gave them. ;)

They want our bio waste...

Ok a tiny bit off topic however, anyone notice the galnet news, and can enlighten me on the empires plans? Building a Well-Class Carrier? Is this going to be a new ship or is it just a fancy name i missed for their battlecruisers.

I forgot to mention the only memory i have of this classification was from star trek and it was an alien science vessel

I'm thinking it's a type of mega ship.

I was thinking the same however carrier's where in between cutters/corvettes and battlecruiser/interdictors in elite lore that where phazed out no?

It would make sense to add a new ship alonside the panther clipper with a fed variant for bigger ships and since the new station having side docks they could make bigger pads. Yes tinfoil but who knows
