Last day of E3 and still no PS4 footage?

seriously i can't believe with a week to go, and we already have our first complaint about the game. Astropalma why don't you reserve judgement until after you have played, the pax demo was a very early build of ED and i am sure they have solved the problems ready for 27th

Right. I assume it will be virtually 'tiptop'.

That's a fair point too acid, but its a fair question from Astro too. The question has been added to Sephs master list on the PS4 info thread so we shall see. I am hoping that they use that list and address the points as it has a really good list of questions now.

Prior to playing and before turning on your screen, paint your entire viewable screen black, then the tears won't show up.

You can't believe getting complaints a week before? I'd be more surprised that it took this long.

Also the "I'm sure they have solved the problems" is not a confidence boost nor is it smart. Any minor aspect of something can be a deal breaker for someone and that this issue is seen as minor (or not even an issue) to some, means it was unlikely to have been reported and even if it was, there is very little that can be done. I too hate screen tearing, which is why I spent an extra arm and leg to make certain my monitor had G-Sync. Now I don't have tearing. Ever.

I doubt that the screen tearing will be remedied in the live version of the game, nor do I ever expect it to be remedied at all. Lots of areas of ED are pretty easy to run, others can be very taxing by comparison and this causes the minimum and maximum fps in the game to have a significant divide. With the FPS going up and down, you're going to get screen tearing frequently. My advice, is to put up with it. It isn't going away on consoles for some time - having the more powerful unit will certainly go someway to alleviating the problem but ultimately the problem is here to stay on consoles for the foreseeable.

I thought i made it clear when i said my complaint was made, based on the PAX East footage. Let me say that again, so you don't take it out of context again: Based on the PAX East footage (Cause let's be honest, theres not much footage from the PS4 version around). I know how game development works and i also know that they were playing an early build, even they said so on stream.
Will the release build still suffer from screen tearing? Maybe not! No one knows yet, apart from the devs, and hopefully it will not. But then again, i can't predict the future, so my complaint was made...again... based on the few PS4 footage i saw, from PAX East.

Also, i don't see what is the problem of pinpointing something, when a game is closer to launch. Usually, developers take notice and solve the issues at launch (or soon after) with a patch. It happened recently with "Prey" on consoles. The early demo framerate was all over the place, which again bothers some more than others, and the dev took notice and fixed it through a day one patch.

By the way, i know how easy it is, to make fun and even throw some snarky remarks about something that bothers others but not you. It's soooo so easy! If the release build still suffers from screen tearing i have no other choice but play it like that. Although i might try some of your most insightfull advices, like painting the screen black before turning the ship... What a funny bunch. What should we make fun of next, guys?

Which part of my post suggested anything other than screen tearing is a valid complaint to have regarding video games and that it isn't going to go away?

You'll have to point it out to me, as it portrays some impressive cognitive dissonance or immaturity to stretch what I said to meme culture.

"Let it go, Let it go, this tearing isn't what you think you know!" There will be no tearing on the release version. They were likely running the PAX version on a developer PS4 in debug mode (which can add quite a bit of overhead), and who knows what kind of setup they had to encode and stream the video. The tearing may likely be a modern day version of those goofly scan lines we used to see when people filmed CRT screens back in the day.

Thank you, fellow screen tearing hater.
You know my pain. ;)

I've noticed far less screen tear this gen than last gen thankfully! Not noticed any in elite on xbox so hopefully its just an early build issue and turning v sync off would of been a quick fix to increase fps for the show.

I'm definitely more hopeful of it running well now and either way it will only get better with time as fdev get to grips with the PlayStation and how best to get it optimised :)

Although screen tearing isn't good, I can put up with a little bit of it and even if it's there at launch I'm sure it'll be fixed in a later patch, so no worries from me there.

Quite frankly I'm more concerned about the trophies, if (as I believe) CQC trophies are needed in order to unlock the platinum, well that makes me a very sad bod as I have been an Elite fan since 84 and CQC is something I'll personally not play. I'm not here to bash it but I wish the platinum wasn't locked by it.

Whooooa, recon I hit a nerve, you must be new here, any snide remarks are made in jest, keep calm, it's only a game.

Ooooh oooh, remedy, use a smaller screen.

New and feeling very welcome already.
No, it's not the "game", it's the principle. ;)
But, by all means, please carry on with your jester routine, mate. I'll be standing up, applauding it. [haha]
