Youtuber Kornelius Briedis seems to have had it with Fdevs

streamers and youtubers abandoned ED a year ago after engineers, and so far the game just puts fake hype in aliens, but so far we only saw a couple of scripted events where you couldnt even interact with them.

Nah, Eve doesn't come close and is not growing. Has had player retention issues for a while (although the fans don't like to hear it) and the base has never come close to Ed at its peak.

of recurrently paying subscribers (a tiny fraction of total players)
and the figure has been steadily growing for ten years.
ed's however is a roller coaster (how appropriate) and currently descending. (*1)

you have to look at the shapes, not the values, the scales are just not comparable: wow is a mass audience game, eve is niche, ed is somewhere in between, but currently aiming for the masses. in terms of player retention curve eve has outperformed ed by a long shot already in the first three years of existence, no matter what frontier does. the future is still open. shill arguments will do a crappy service.

i wouldn't necessary call mythic+ or mythic raiding casual /offtopic

Mythic+ was enjoyable but easy in the end, it could mostly be down to weekly mods and group comp. The hardest part of Mythic raids is keeping 20 people to do it. I've only done a hand full of mythic raid fights and it wasn't because our guild wasn't capable skill it was just keeping every one to do them.

For them to actually do it.

.....and when they do it to *your* schedule, & it breaks the game, people like you will be front & centre whining about it.

I want gameplay enhancements as much as the next person (hence why I am so frequently in the suggestion forum) but I recognise that implementing it can take time.....& I would rather they do it right.

I always liked his videos.

He makes good points about ED in his comments on this one.

What would it take to get you back? What would you like to see?

Kornelius Briedis
i would like to see ability to play with my friends at full extent and do some crazy stuff together. they don't want players to influence economy and background sim too much but same time are too lazy to give us scripted stories and events to enjoy our play. if you don't want to work then give us players all the tools to make space bases, influence directly economy and sell directly resources to each other that will attract pirates and traders, allow us to own systems and build mining stations in good asteroid fields, expand humanity on player terms, form clans that will change system laws ...never will happen ;/

Counter Strike has kept its player base. Add the sequels and it has grown exponentially. Since the sequels play nearly the same just with minor improvements to the mechanics. It's a hard game to compete in to. It's one of those games that reward skill. It is not your average CoD type game either if you think that then you have no clue.

Oh yawn, another delusional post. I can name about half a dozen YouTubers/Streamers who regularly put out E:D videos.

Which has more to do with ED being for a niche crowd and those games being for the masses.

Like ED could be a micro brew beer that is good for people who like that style of beer. Those games are like Bud Light.

If that micro brewery was making IPA's. It might be fancy and niche, but it mostly just taste like it's been filtered through an anus :D

FD are helicopter parents. Afraid to let their kids away from their watchful eye, and only letting them experience approved, paranoid content. This is why Kornelius left the game

What a complete & utter load of garbage. Where is your evidence for your claim? Funny, too, 'cause half the player base complain that FDev are too absent. Seems they can't win either way

Blech, the game he wants is the exact opposite of what I want the game to be. He should go play WoW, sounds much more up his alley.

...
EVE(core fanbase is still there after 14 years)
...
:)

Aren't all of those in a fairly substantial decline compared to peak figures?

http://eve-offline.net/?server=tranquility

Pertinent points:
- EVE's average annual online playerbase in 2004 was 10k.
- Today it's averaging 35k.
- It peaked at an average of 45k during 2009-2014, and the biggest annual peak average in that was 46k
- This is direct server stats, not "steam users" or some other flawed stat.
- Only shows online users, not subscribed accounts.
- No distinction between free-to-play Alpha accounts vs paid Omega accounts, but given they're a recent addition and there's no substantial change, well, your call I guess?

Reason I post this isn't so much that I care what anyone thinks (take from the above points what you will), but to try and contextualise terms like "substantially decline". 15-20% drop in online activity is "a drop", but is it substantial? Honestly, I don't know... peaks and troughs come with the butthurt, but considering they're still doing major overhauls of some game mechanics (like structures/sovereignity), I'd say their playerbase is still well supported.

Key being for CCP, at they tend to learn from their mistakes.

i'm having real trouble trying to identify which part of his quote could be detrimental to your playing as long as you weren't forced to participate. care to elaborate? otherwise, is somebody not wanting exactly what you want unacceptable for you? that would be a different (and very off-topic) problem :)

or did you just choke on the word 'clan'? it does seem to trigger funny reactions around here.

Well that takes time. Seeing as how this can't happen over night and plenty of people will disagree on things like the engineer 'grind' it's going to take a bit to sort out.

The thing is we were telling FD to make the core gameplay more complex since release, more than 2 years now.
Probably we need to wait another 6+ months.

They had to finish their prior obligations first though. It might be better off that they did its way and not the other way in the long run. As now a lot of the ground work is out for them to build up on instead of making stuff more modular they can better integrate the things we have now together.

Clans, base building. Totally opposite of the Elite: Dangerous experience I want....or remember. Maybe years down the track, once all the core gameplay is in place...but if not having it now is why he is leaving, then good riddance.
