Go stuff yourselves : I'm enjoying the game.

+1! I fully agree with the OP.

I keep finding new things to do in the game, and I'm looking forwards to the Thargoids, although I'm expecting to die, and I haven't done that for a while in ED. I always play with a goal in mind, so I'm aiming for something. The one thing I really haven't tried is a long distance trip. I might do that soon for both the fun of it and the engineer unlock.

The game has more than delivered on my expectations to date. I think it has for most people who play it.

...or sitting back with a cold one when people start auto-dispensing salt at the first inference of PvP - even in humour.

Honestly, you don't even need to try any more. Just make a joke about player combat and people start acting like a panicked cat backed into a corner :)

It's not the solo/group players continually wailing in a comedy way about the doom of all things whilst demanding everyone else is forced to play with them.

Aaaand he's gone off on one.

This is genuinely unprecedented. Full on salt gushing about game modes off the back of some very simple humour.

Keep it coming bud. The forums has a large demand for popcorn we need to prepare.

I got the game at release, and it felt unfinished so I put it down for a while. Got horizons when it was on sale and now I can't stop playing it.
I play it like OP describes it and I'm even a little overwhelmed how much to do out there.

Besides that after playing games like WOT for years (I quit that POS already) the grind here is a breeze really.

Why would I be salty, I'm happy with the game. I also have plenty of people to play with without having to demand they get press-ganged into it.

+1 to playing the game, rather than grinding it then complaining about the grind!

I don't grind, ever, (except PowerPlay, because it is just a grind. Lol), and i still enjoy the game. Except ranking up. That's painfully slow without using one of the grind systems. Which I refuse to do, because it's not fun to do the same mission to the same destination 300 times. Lol

Can stuff be improved? Of course, nothing is perfect. Not even the Python. :p
But it's a hell of a good game. My 1000~ hours is testament to that.
My next most played game is only 300~ hours.
No man's sky, is only about 20. Lol

Elite is one of those rare games where I'll start most sessions without having a goal. I'm generally happy to just pootle around the bubble, making delivery missions, being a taxi. Recently I tried mining and really quite liked it, so I'll be doing that for a while now.

Sometimes I'll have specific goals ("can I get my credit balance back up above 300,000 Cr tonight?") and sometimes I'll have a specific destination I want to visit (most recently Dav's Hope) but generally I'm just puttering around having a relaxing time.

Say i want G5 thrusters, a Corvette, and a Clipper. How do i get any of this in reasonable time without grinding? It's a serious question, because i like to have those but never grind and never use exploits or cheesy stuff like massacre. Also, i refuse to trade slaves for moral reasons.

Doors to freebies get opened and closed all the time. You have to pay attention and get inn before the ladder is pulled up. :p

I want to be the best Counter-Strike player in the world. I am not. And actually I don't want it. But I wouldn't blame the game for it.

PS
Because I want it is a pretty weak argument.

A very refreshing thread with people that see how the game is played. Here's a kicker for ye, I've just about completed engineering my little fleet and I surprised myself by thinking. I'm gonna miss all the added content the engineers has given me. Well said OP. OH 63 here

Come on, that analogy is completely broken. What i said is that there is content that seems to be locked behind a wall that can only be overcome by grinding. I did not say i want to become the master of CQC or the most feared PvPer in game. I just like to try these big ships and i like ships that handle well.

Kids always want Ice Cream. Always.

May I ask as to how old everyone in the thread is? My assumption, is that everyone seems to be 30+ in this thread.

31

I'm enjoying elite just as much as the day I purchased it. I have two accounts, one on pc and one on Xbox. It is my go to game and has been for the two years I've played. It isnt for everyone, which is fair enough but as some have mentioned, the salt is extremely salty and after all.... it's just a game. But it still blows me away sometimes, just something simple like the view from a planet can take your breath away or just stare in awe, or I'm just easily pleased. Great thread OP
