FDev, you just upset a *lot* of people.

I never suggested it wasn't, I was just responding to someone asking the question. What is with these forums and people having conversations occur in their heads, and then projecting them onto the forums?

...doesn't change the fact that a serously unbalanced, overkill, module is possible. It's broken.

Personally, I don't think so. Yes super modules are possible but in the normal run of things they will be rare. So what?

Indeed, there are a number of 'Moby's' out there that can't see how fortunate they were not to be whacked in the Evonne Goolagong's by the banhammer.

Completely agree that they're damn lucky to escape by their short curlies, but to turn around and then make demands.. wow.. that's brave (or crazy).

..plus giggled at "Evonne Goolagong's"

+rep!

Don't worry, this will hit them in the wallets for sure. They don't do anything about combat loggers. They don't do anything about people who used cheats in open play PvP (I still see people in open I know 100% used to use shield hacks) but people use an exploit to lessen the garbage engineer grind and they finally decide this is the time to take a stand?

Just about everyone I have talked to is walking away from the game now. This will hurt everyone, including the non-PvP crowd.

Enjoy the emptiness of open play because a large portion of the players who frequent open are quitting.

Well. maybe it's now time for those of us who left open because of the power disparity to return. Maybe open will be even more populous and a lot more inviting to play in.

Those of the 13th involved in this are not heros, as has been said already. The NSA who supposedly serve the people, did no service to them in not telling Microsoft of the problems. Instead, like those in the 13th and whom ever else in the ED community, did no justice for the players of ED.

In single player game if you cheat, or use an exploit if you'd rather term it, means you merely cheat yourself. In an online game you cheat everyone. If a roll back of this engineered stuff is all that they get, then they're getting off lightly. Let's hope that FDevs don't regret their decision. We'll see .....

Chief

That's what should happen to exploiters and cheaters:

My thanks to FDev for the measures taken. Not only did you remove the exploited modules from those who would use them to gain unfair advantage over other players, but you also cashed in extra by removing 'all' rolls on those exploited module types and thus hurt the self-righteousness of the arrogant exploiter crowd on behalf of those who were wrongly affected for so long by this foul play.

Well played FD, well played...

Oh no, what are we going to do now without all those cheaters quitting the game?....

Well if it means squeaky-voiced gankers and their ilk will no longer frequent stations in systems with active CGs, bending the in-game rules as far as possible (and basicially being ) all in the name of glorious self-entitled PvP that's all good then.

*hug* [haha]

actions undertaken as of today are completely warranted and those affected only have themselves to blame.

enjoy the grind back up, if you choose to undertake it at all.

So...cheating is justified and OK, because the player cheater (let's not mix those two) has a subjective opinion on the game mechanics (he dislikes it)?
That's the logic many on this forum use when defending combat logging.

Silly isn't it.

All cheaters should be punished.

From what I'm gathering so far, the manner in which you've conducted your exploit punishment have been nothing less than extremely clumsy. Instead of only removing the rolls which were exploited, you've also elected to remove anything that might have been a legitimate roll. What you're literally telling us is "We know you cheated, but since we can't tell which module you cheated to upgrade, we're taking this sledgehammer to everything we think might have been exploited." I'm seeing a lot of people having lost their legitimately upgraded modules... and some performed the exploit once out of curiosity.

You're losing players pulling this stuff, guys. It's bad enough you guys took said sledgehammer to anything that looked suspicious, but according to reddit posts some people still have their exploited modules.

I'm really glad I didn't let my curiosity get the better of me... I probably would have had my FAS wiped from existence if I had from ONE module.

[EDIT] Since some people would rather not actually read the thread and see that I attempted to clarify, I might as well add this in. I jumped the gun and posted this believing that any roll viewed as "suspect" would be targeted. I didn't spend a month dedicated to engineering my FAS in all aspects to have it dedicated over a false positive, you know. But obviously as more information has come out it seems FDev have a way of actually tracking these things, so... I tried admitting to the mistake, but nobody's actually READING the thread.

Y'all really like to resort to immediate derision and vitriol to any opinion you don't like though, do you? What a nice bunch you are. :p

So rather than FDev being clumsy, it's you.

No you never believed any suspect roll was being removed you "knew" all rolls were being removed. In your words "I'm seeing a lot of people having lost their legitimately upgraded modules".

Now you call others names for not reading into this fully. When you failed to read what was going on fully from the onset.

Suck up the responses you're getting, you earned them.
