FDev, you just upset a *lot* of people.

I can't be the only one experiencing a tangible inner glow, surveying my honestly modded G5 fleet of ships?

Maia was empty of triangles, as was Shinrarta; I stopped by in a T-9. [haha]

They don't want to be on par though. They need cheats to cover a lack of skill.

I'm pretty sure that most of them would still be more than capable. It's min/maxer mentality taken to a pathological level, nothing more; a bunch of people who just can't accept that they might not have the absolute best of everything, even if it's overwhelmingly likely that their opponent also doesn't have the absolute best of everything. That's actually more tragic than the whole 'quitting because I lost the stuff I never earned to begin with' aspect of it to be honest.

I agree. They will still be skilled pilots, and will soon be back I'm sure. Anyone that has lost their mods but takes a break now will always be behind their peers who got back on the horse straight away.

No rest for the wicked ;)

From what I'm gathering so far, the manner in which you've conducted your exploit punishment have been nothing less than extremely clumsy. Instead of only removing the rolls which were exploited, you've also elected to remove anything that might have been a legitimate roll. What you're literally telling us is "We know you cheated, but since we can't tell which module you cheated to upgrade, we're taking this sledgehammer to everything we think might have been exploited." I'm seeing a lot of people having lost their legitimately upgraded modules... and some performed the exploit once out of curiosity.

You're losing players pulling this stuff, guys. It's bad enough you guys took said sledgehammer to anything that looked suspicious, but according to reddit posts some people still have their exploited modules.

I'm really glad I didn't let my curiosity get the better of me... I probably would have had my FAS wiped from existence if I had from ONE module.

[EDIT] Since some people would rather not actually read the thread and see that I attempted to clarify, I might as well add this in. I jumped the gun and posted this believing that any roll viewed as "suspect" would be targeted. I didn't spend a month dedicated to engineering my FAS in all aspects to have it dedicated over a false positive, you know. But obviously as more information has come out it seems FDev have a way of actually tracking these things, so... I tried admitting to the mistake, but nobody's actually READING the thread.

Y'all really like to resort to immediate derision and vitriol to any opinion you don't like though, do you? What a nice bunch you are. :p

I read this part of the thread. It's a bit funny even without reading the rest of it. If you led this trick with an unfounded statement laced with dressing-down, it's little wonder the rest of the thread follows suit.

Looking forwards their mindset wont allow for keeping a decent roll with maybe a few more tries to see if it can be improved. The grind they'll inflict on themselves trying to god-roll everything at full cost is the harshest part of this punishment.

Yep. Just a simple, you now have to do as those who haven't cheated have done! It's a smart move by FD. We aren't wishing any worse on anyone than we've gone through ourselves.

Lets not forget the fact that most cheaters cheat because they SUCK at the game, and wouldn't have a chance if skill were the only determining factor as to who wins and who loses.

The irony is always palpable in cases like this, because these same skill challenged losers were always the first to play the "Git Gud" card any time someone complained about the way an encounter with their exploited ship went down. Buying into the of their artificially created abilities is baked right into a cheater's DNA. Remove the cheats and the reality of their lack of skill comes crashing down on top of them.

It will be interesting to see how many of these miscreants actually stick around, now that they will be forced to play on a more level playing field. As much as they were always so quick to snark at their victims's outrage, I seriously doubt they will be able to handle being on the receiving end of the ReBuy screen as often as they are likely to be going forward. ;)

Just as cheaters tend to SUCK at the games they cheat in, they are also cowards with little tolerance for getting their asses handed to them on a regular basis.

(Who's Rage Quit/Combat Logging now?) [yesnod]

No, I didn't get the memo .

Probably when FD looked at my account got ashamed of what the engineers have done ( worst rolls ever ). :S

[alien] no ...

In this case we're talking about the players with the most pvp experience in the game, who would still be flying meta ships and could roll at least average G5 mods in relatively little time. Seriously, they would still be able to rinse anybody who hasn't spent significant time doing pvp. That's the dumbest aspect of this pseudo-rage really, if they all just played the game, rolled their mods wthout spending ridiculous amounts of time grinding and got on with it they'd be in exactly the same position as they were yesterday; competitive with each other and considerably better than most. If that's not enough for them, there's no helping them.

Well said. I've run out of rep juice for you unfortunately, could someone do the honours please?

I don't believe that, and never will.

25 years of playing online Multi-Player informs me otherwise.
