No one wants to hear 'Balance of Probability' when they get hit with a false positive. Look at the ire that developed when cheaters lost something they didn't cheat on. I would have to utterly disagree with you on this one. FD knows they will have to be justified in anything they do, punishment wise. The '5 for 1' cheat is separate and completely different from any other cheat/exploit. We, as players, don't get to decide what rises to a cheat, and what is an annoying (to some) unexpected result of a mechanics.
This whole cry is intended to make those caught up in the recently exposed cheat feel better, because they have fingers that can be pointed elsewhere. I give them, and their 'arguments of justification'. no moment at all.
The whole point of 'balance of probabilities' is that you wouldn't ban someone for a single false positive, on account of the fact that you can't determine a pattern from a single instance. With respect, you're not arguing against my point at all.
You know full well what I'm saying here and you also know it's true. I know that not because I'm a mind reader but because I know you're intelligent enough to recognise it. This always gets thrown out when someone makes this point, 'oh noes, I will get banned if my router happens to explode despite me never having disconnected before in over two years of playing' and honestly? It's disingeuous crap mate. No games company would ever do that and I'm not suggesting that Fdev should do it.
However if someone displays a pattern of repeatedly dropping their connection just at the critical point of a fight (which is not this one false positive strawman at all) then we move into the territory of it being reasonable to assume something else is in play.
I don't know anybody who has ever experienced a pattern of disconnections that would meet the criteria I'm talking about here as part of normal use, no more than I know anyone who managed to exit the engineers menu at just the right time to inadvertently gain a grade 5 mod for grade one mats 172 times. Balance of probabilities seems to be something everybody is happy with on that score...
Oh and I just noticed your last line. For clarity, I didn't lose a damn thing because I don't use exploits. My angle here is really really simple - I hate cheats. It's just that unlike some on here, I hate all cheats. As for us players not getting to decide what is and isn't a cheat, perhaps you could re-read my post where I explicitly said that FDev should be providing far more clarity and removing doubt on that score.
