Request if possible, and some have done it already, but, for all the known Fungal Tree sites you and others might have found in this thread "Would you kindly" enter the system/body, coordinates and planet type here for me. We have a few but I feel we are missing quite a bit:

Submissions here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1X1o-CZEpf5ziX8QJoFTylCHLLZ5d2eLN7o7csX0yNQM/edit#gid=0

and/or just on the main thread: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...Fumarole-Location-Catalog-and-Data-Collection

Thank You kindly

I know Pan is already aware of these so this is really for anybody else.

Hey peeps.

In terms of the Thargoid ships turning up at the barnacles, do you have to trigger it or is it at timed intervals? Has anything been established on that?

since these "brain" trees are found in craters, could it be these craters are from some sort of biological weapon? and the trees are just a fungi grwoing from the aftermath? just a theory

I have question about ruins sites, why do the look so old and rough if there's no atmospheric effects on the planet?

Errr ... errr ...

OK, how about this ... maybe there used to be an atmosphere? Yeah, that must be it ("nice catch Alec" ... don't mention it Frontier!)

Oh my word yes FD absolutely should be doing this: a planetary 'fog of war' visible on the zoomed-in planet map and perhaps a mini version that could be called up on the SRV/Fighter panel would be the dachsund's danglies.

Cmdr Khelder developed a really useful surface navigation app (https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...-Peek-Surface-Navigation?highlight=Sneak+peek) which looked to be the bees knees, but FD wouldn't give him a licence as it got the current location by memory scraping. For keeping an on- or near-surface track history that could be overkill, since when searching your speed is relatively low; I was hoping the journal file might be used to get srv/ship location say once every thirty seconds to lay down a track history, and the ship height could be used to vary the track width to represent detection probability depending on the size/visibility of the object being searched, however the journal file doesn't seem to do that. I really think whoever sets these planetary surface puzzles has never actually tried to find one. I'm still amazed that barnacles were ever found cos I have difficuly seeing them even when I have their coordinates & hovering nearby!

Possible theory... no evidence.
The AI was seeking independance from the monolith network.
The guardians were either split between those opposed to AI , and those for.

Maybe those that sought to keep the AI, knew of the AI's intent to have a body and so created bodies for the AI, the tree's .
Trapping them in a way from escaping servitude but also giving them safe bodies outside the monolith network which was under threat.

i kinda like that idea, and not just because i love this song

anyway...i have a question.
is this the first time that 5 sites were found in the same system?

You know there is a list on the FP right;) COL 173 SECTOR KY-Q D5-47 has five sites (some of the earliest found). So this is the 2nd system with five sites, looking forward to seeing them reported [up]

The ship name Cete is interesting - meaning is apparently 'a group of badgers' - probably means something :)

Today CMDR Synjorai of Canonn discovered Professor Melville's mega ship in Col 173 Sector LJ-F C12-0!

The mega ship's name is The Cete.

There's been found several ruins in the system as well - counting 5 at the time of posting. Seems like this might have been part of the original way to find the ruins.

Link to the sites found - thanks to CMDR Dave Weyland for the screens: http://imgur.com/a/JEmuI

Nice find!

No sorry, just a mineral extraction organism. long been known that thargoids strip planets of their metallic resources. i said this from the very start about these barnacles and got poo poo'd by canonn because barnacles were not connected to thargoids. kinda sad when the truth comes out and those skeptics get blown out of the water. Anyway back to sitting on the sidelines and watching the drama unfold, everything so far i have predicted has come true. i know where these critters come from, what their intentions are and what the end game will be. So am i telling anyone here, nah no one would believe me if i did and end up calling me a troll. So, enjoy.

Having just wasted an hour going through your post history on these threads, I can categorically say that you never speculated here that barnacles striped planets of resources or that they were connected to thargoids. So no one "poo poo'd" you on that, Canonn or otherwise. And everything you predicted has not come true. I found few posts that could even be call speculation let alone prediction, rather most of your posts have been whining about bugs, FDev, mods, or the way the mysteries have played out. The only real speculation I could find from you is below, so others can judge without having to waste so much time on it. As for trolling, that's what you just did by calling Canonn out for no reason, so congrats you trolled me.

i personally think people are giving fdev to much credit in thinking there must be more than one ruin in a system. i have seen NO evidence that there are more ruins in a system, just like the formidine debacle i think fdev have turned off these ruins until they decide to progress this story board. The fact we were able to get more data than was originally intended proved this with MB's frustration post.
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...8-The-Canonn?p=4437358&viewfull=1#post4437358 (about the flower ship crashsite)
Thats the thing, it looks like an "unmanned" bioship. not thargoid. just because it has 8 sides everyone assumes its thargoid.. what if its a living creature like some kind of space starfish. Its not giving off any reading on the scanner and isnt targettable, has no obvious life quarters and i couldnt see any propulsion drives.
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...8-The-Canonn?p=4442040&viewfull=1#post4442040 (about the flower ship)
until frontier/galnet confirm its thargoid it isnt. simples.
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...8-The-Canonn?p=4448017&viewfull=1#post4448017
Well at least now through the powers of Galnet, confirmation it is highly likely to be an old thargoid ship. So this is probably a first generation though this hasnt been confirmed. Which means it predates most our ships, hence the technology would be very redundant and lot of our technology is thargoid hybrid already.
As much a frontier would like to erase the old timeline, they cant.. to do so would mean setting the clock back to the original thargoid encounter date.

We already know about thargoids in this timeline, know what they look like etc, etc, and have dealt with them in the past. We have a peace type treaty with them where we leave them alone they leave us alone. The unknown probes i still honestly think they may be just throwback from old technology which has gone rogue.

OR could be a Thargoid Hybrid / faction which have split off from their rules, treaties, etc and are lying in wait to take over the galaxy.

Uhm NO offense but MB Did state categorically that the UP and barnacles on merope have only an association.. they are not connected in any other way. Meaning UP's are pointing to something else.

The ship name Cete is interesting - meaning is apparently 'a group of badgers' - probably means something :)

Possibly, but based on the accords from the Phonetic Wars of 2682-2793 it's entirely possible that Cete is:

  1. a thing made or used for sitting on, such as a chair or stool.
synonyms: chair, bench, stool, settle, stall; More
  2. a person's buttocks.

Interesting historical note, the wars were started by a minor faction named the Grammer Notzy's because people kept pointing out the irony of their name.

Still, it's possible that Cete refers to any aquatic mammal, for instance whale or dolphin as in cetacean.

Regarding the worn state of the Guardian ruins, I have another question... These where very advanced people. Did they not like building with superior construction materials... like metals? We do it? I can understand it would be very quick, and make use of the materials there, but if you are very advanced, could you not even do a bit of smelting?

1. Millions of Earth years have passed, things fall apart over time. For all we know, massive atomic-level weapons were used against these sites in their extermination war.

2. I still maintain that the layouts of not only the structures/walls themselves, but the obelisks correlate to star systems or planetary systems.

3. What are the obelisks made out of? No one has asked that, have they? I contend that minds will be blow if Meta-Alloys turn out to be the composition of these things... or a like-metal-alloy. Someone grab a broken chunk and have it analyzed, already!!! LOL
