Download version.

those who have preorder the game on the psn store, will be able to play it? (tutorials and challenges only, i know), im downloading the game, but the timer still shows, so im wondering if those that we get it digitally, won't be able to play it right now, and have to wait until the 27th

EDIT: no we can't, damn...

I think we drew the short straw. It looks the physical buyers are enjoying things.

Sad....

Ineligible. :( But I knew that was coming...

What if you change the time on your PS4? Can you trick it into thinking it's Tuesday? Unplug it from the Internet first.

Come on now, wake up! Out of bed, this is a brilliant idea. Give it a try!

I think it will need to grab the server time inorder to activate thew licence but worth a shot

Well I've got a way around that, but I dare not share lest I get thrown in Sony jail. No guarantee it will work, but I'll try it tomorrow (midnight still 4 hours away here).

-- EDIT --

Scratch that. No fooling this Sony overlord (they must be using a secure uninterceptable time checking protocol).

I blame UPS! And whatever you Brits have for mail transport. I'd be perfectly content if half the user base wasn't playing the ED tutorials right now...

So if I can't hack Internet time, I'll hack real time - I'm going to bed [zZzZz]

You would think that a huge company like Sony would want to make their digital sales more enticing.
And, making it so that hard-copy sales get the "trial/practice" feature unlocked, but not the digital purchasers...just a bad business decision.
It honestly makes me think that I might only buy hard-copies from now on...and, I haven't bought a disc in years, even way back on the ps3.

Downloaded but I want to get used to the controller.

So no demos until the timer runs out?? That's a bit feeble if that's the case.

Ooohhh...it hadn't downloaded all of it yet the bar had completed? This ps4 is a sneaky beast.

Checked just after midnight & my auto download hadn't started so started it manually. So fully installed now, just waiting for the count down timer to hit zero:)

I know it's annoying but the release day is the 27th and no one should really be able to play it until then (physical disc or otherwise), it isn't a business decision.

By the letter of the 'law' the physical copies shouldn't be in anyone's hands until then either, it's just that online shops have started getting into the "post for launch day" thing (and some of them are VERY conservative about how long postage can take so they arrive very early). And, because they are the disc copies, they will always be able to run the software as they have to be able to be used offline, etc... The setup/tutorial isn't a demo or trial, it's the actual full game running but without the server connection.

Totally agree that this can make digital distribution a bit less enticing (I personally still by a lot of physical copies for day one purchases).

It's frustrating for me too, I pre-ordered a physical copy in store so even though some of the shop's online customers have received copies yesterday I have to wait for mine too. :(

The release date is the release date, getting physical copies early is just luck, it's not a "feature."
At the same time, deliveries can always run into trouble. At least those of us who have digital and got it downloaded already know we can get on as soon as we get to the release date.

They did, perorder digital comes with a free paint job and some decals. And a timer. Disk purchase don't get any of those. I've read in this forum multiple times that individuals were not going to preorder any more. But do it when the time comes.

ARRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!! Stupid power outage right in the middle of my ED download! This is Bill's fault, bashing deities left and right. Anyway, the download has picked up where it left off, but now I'm worried that PS4 won't perform the checksum validation until it's time to play the game, and then I'll get a "download corrupted" message and have do redownload this honking file all over again on my slow internet...

Does anyone know if PS4 validates pre-orders immediately after download or when the game is first run?
