Hi guys...been following the works of Canonn for quite some time and I find this sort of stuff very intriguing and would like to add my first thesis/input of many.

What if the barnacles are actually bases (like the one at HIP)...and the barnacles are actually the seed of sorts, to build a new base/outpost? Maybe there're not scanning or drawing something up from them, what if they're pumping energy into the ground to build new bases and spread their forthold in the galaxy?

I think that probability is significantly raised, but they could still be INRA-made

edit HOWEVER THE FIFTH SITE (HIP 14909 2 A Lat: -26.44 Long: -27.47) IS ACTIVE AND SHOWS UPs & UAs (possibly) under construction, so that nails it: Thargs 1 - INRA 0

That would make sense, presumably their devs were not told of these new materials so they are raising an exception when the material appears in the journal file.

Edit: raised this possibility in the EDD thread.

You didn't watch carefully then, the news about the discovery were on the Front Page after 10 minutes from the discovery itself, as I was there myself ;)
