Yes happened a few hours ago I think, at least that's when I first saw others reporting this.
You probably mean like in this clip here: https://clips.twitch.tv/CorrectCorrectCheesecakeCmonBruh

Thats the back off scan.....i dont think they are scanning as much as i think they are warning us to pretty much off lol

Im currently tryinng to find a new UP unfortunatly these racks dont prevent loss of srv cargo lol

with all these new data scans and materials i hope fd either raises the held limit or some sort of storage, its becoming a nightmare to hold it all :-(

Yeah thats the one. I wonder if there's any relevance?

I think the logic, for me, goes something like this:

1) Ships going through witchspace attract their attention ==> Hyperdiction + Scan
2) Ships down at barnacles don't attract their attention ==> They come in and extract/tickle the barnacle, ignoring any players
3) Ships enter the map room, potentially activate it and come out with ULs, attracting their attention ==> they come down and scan the SRV responsible

So, if you pique their interest you get scanned.

Being near them, regardless of whether they're interested in you, you get disabled.

The question is - what, if anything, do you have to be doing to make them angry? Are they even bothered by us at all?

If they were responsible for the big Fed wrecks we're seeing (either them or another related alien: jury's rightly still out) - then what the hell were they doing that we haven't?

hmmm that permit lock in hip is probably the answer...maybe they have one of these sites locked off probing the thargoids bums....xD

FINALLY got a probe.

Pleiades Sector KC-U B3-1 8.

method, for those waiting:

I flew in and out of the locale, did a few orbits, then back to deep space a few times and one popped up within a couple of minutes or so.

I have a hunch moving out of the sphere of influence to deep space and back re-rolls the instance, IDK.

Congrats!

I'm hoping to do the same in the next week. I have Martuuk's Soontills in tow (+ 13 more for a bit of profit), and 27 Unknown fragments. I have no modular components, though - and I'm under no illusion that getting them all in a single session is hopelessly optimistic.

I have 19 of those id gladly trow you some if it was allowed :-(

on that note any good sites for those pharma mats for dirty drives grade 5? i know i know off topic |:p but my asp is pushing 480 boost on grade 4 lol

I'm going to try this method. Sounds like the same method someone used for the Thargoid barnacle encounter... Maybe moving out and in does reset the RNG.

How close to did you move in after returning to the soi?

They were being Feds ;) It makes me shoot them too.

I'm questioning whether the barnacles are even alien at this point. They are not included in any alien iconography so far, the goids scan them the way they scan us, none of the alien artifacts react with them in any way and they only produce materials beneficial to humans and tend to be guarded by heavy human firepower. They are also the only bit of organic kit with a picture on them making them stand out. Even the alien bases don't have anything resembling that marking

They ping out meta alloys, the new alien sites have meta alloys all round them

Lave radio just tested a guardian relic and the map thing has gone hostile and attacked them

Say what?? Details?

The USS was .28ls from planet but I'm not sure it really matters, as long as you're in the planet's frame of reference. I was not trying to be careful with my distance, just looping round for a minute or two (mid-high throttle) then heading back out to deep space.

Edit: And feedback for Fdev - this is not fun or engaging.

I totally agree. The barnacle logo is deeply suspicious.

The spires bear a striking resemblance to those at this giant site but that doesn't mean they're the same.

It's a bit odd that the flower ships visit them, though. They don't scan them, they actively interact with them - almost like they know they're there and purposefully visit them specifically to do whatever it is they're doing. Perhaps they're just not that important to them, though; hence why they ignore players.
