Raise Your Hand If The First Thing You Did At the Alien Base Was Shoot All The Scavengers...

Not me. I flew around for awhile, and eventually landed to roam all over the place in my SRV. Instead of shooting things, I was climbing up onto the main structure, and then onto the spires out around the exterior.

I like climbing things.

Me too.

I went for the high score, and cleansed a site with dumbfires.

Each missile created its own cluster of green pops around it :p

Oh... how could you!! :O Just you wait until 2.4 hits... ;)

And there it is, the confirmation that we'll fight against them. There goes any enthusiasm into the story and mystery if it is all going to end in yet another instance of the "stop the evil invading aliens" trope...

Of course a significant % of our players are aggressive idiots. Heck, I fear if we ever met actual extraterrestrials, we'd have some dullard shoot at them as well.

Mental image of a huge Thargoid grasping CMDR_Cosmicspacehead by the wrist and saying, "Stop punching yourself, stop punching yourself, stop punching yourself."

I suspect if Elite can remember what ship you were in when you committed a crime, it can remember who shot what and how much. That database record may come back to bite you.

Have you considered that we're the invading aliens in that scenario?

Please don't imply I'm a dullard.

You can just go ahead and call me a dullard. :p

I'm primarily a combat pilot. Pew pew is fun for me. Exchanging flowers with aliens is not.

I'd welcome something that fights back. :p

Why do us humans have to shoot every thing? If there's an alien object and you have already been warned that they're weapons and defense is far superior why would you think it would be a good idea to open fire on it

Happy to say I did not shoot the little fishy things when I first saw them, I wanted to capture it an use it for something, not sure what, just something...

And I never thought it possible for a single line of text in a forum post to send tingling shivers of anticipation down my spine...

Just you wait till 10.4 hits.. sorry 2.1 and then 2.2 and then 2.3..its all been empty threats of galaxy destruction. frontier keep dragging this out. we should be done with the thargoids and moving onto the next race by now.

Oh no, not the poor drones!

Can't even shoot inGAME NPCs for fun nowadays without some psychological commentary.

I didn't even get near these new discoveries, I'm going to let the dust settles first.

I only know how to fight, I'm going to wait out my time comes.

Let the explorers and scientists do your work isn't for me.

Guilty! I did shoot a few. They sprayed yellow goo at me but didnt do much damage...

And from reading this thread, i found out they drop mats?!? I didnt notice... Oh well, guess i'll just have to shoot some more! I want my thargoid shinies when 2.4 drops.

My first visit I saw Scavengers.
I followed them around, and recorded them flying around doing pretty much nothing.
I don't generally shoot at things that don't shoot at me.

But to be fair, I did have a mid-air collision with one - that resulted in it going "splat", like some large bug. None of the others seemed to take any notice of this, and I think I got all the bug goo washed off my SRV.

*raises hand*

Not including the initial flyby to get my bearings, I landed, and drove past a group of scavengers. And shot them.

I spent a good 30 minutes hoovering up all the unknown goodies they dropped.

Then I ran out of storage.

Then I tried to scan them.

They're not very aggressive. If you stop shooting, so do they. Then they go back to ignoring you.

However, they also don't do much in the way of damage. I was hoping to stir up something bigger. But alas. Nothing. :p

Atleast I finally had an alien encounter. Although it was far smaller than I was expecting. :p

Can't seem to get mommy aliens attention.

I decided to get into there way of thinking a little, be friendly you know, that green stuff they eat tastes a little bit like avocado!

No. I am offended at the suggestion that the first thing people would do is shoot aliens. May be the last thing before dusting off though ;)
