Alien archeology and other mysteries: Thread 10 - The Canonn

Would just like to add, if it wasn't already known, that it's more than just the Ancient Relic you can add to the Thargon Device.

You can add the Ancient:
-Totem
-Tablet
-Casket
Adding these 3 will result in the device glowing orange. It does nothing more until you scan it with your SRV. Doing so produces the same orange beam of doom you get from the relic. Here's a 20s clip of me showing exactly this.

Only guardian tech here, and a human scan. It seems the thargoids don't like ANYTHING to do with the guardians...

I would not discard that possibility.

Think about that: The first UAs and UPs were found among military convoys. Excuse me, let me get my tinfoil hat.

*TINFOIL HAT ON*

Imagine that the military found the UAs at some point. Imagine they started investigating them, not knowing that the UAs were actively communicating with "something else". Imagine that among the many, many experiments they did, they realized that the UA responded to certain frequencies or stimulations... and that included morse code. And imagine that all that time, someone was listening the unaware scientists...

So: The UAs are alien in origin, that's true. But we cannot deny the possibility that human interference has affected them, which could explain why they actually use morse code.

*TINFOIL HAT OFF*

I'm hiding under a tin bath....
Your comment does make perfect sense.

Yes im fairly certain its saying stop. Its hard to tell because of how eratic it is. but twice now ive manged to get something close to STOP.

I can but try, with my limited knowledge. This is the part of the puzzle where I tend to get completely lost because I know nothing of deciphering codes. But hey, thought I'd give it a go. I'm not sure what's funny here really...
Hi, thanks for the response on my UA question.

With regards to morse, I used to do morse (reasonably well). The problem is, is that anything that most things with a periodic rhythm can be mis-intepretted as morse. Seriously I've watched Spec-Ops sit round a fire and write down morse messages from the crackles of a wood fire. All turned out garbled.

I've taken a look at the video, and I agree it does look like morse flashes, but like yourself, I could only discern garbage. This is not to say I'm poo pooing it. There are plenty better at morse than me, so I could be wrong. Will try and take a more detailed look later and try with some different footage.

Has it been established that we get the same sequence of Orange Beam Of Doom flashes with each combination? Could they be different depending on what's put in?

Those values are all even closer than before. Are we still using the distance from Merope to COL 70 (or vice versa????) as 1.0 ?

If so that has to be something fairly local to one or the other? if it describes a volume of space that is even smaller than using the prev results. :) Good effort you guys :)

Yes - great work!

I've got my trilateration math ready... But not sure where the distance is. The format seems much different than http://jubjubnest.net/~wace/elite/ - at a bit of a loss now.

Sorry to ask this naively, but someone has tried to drop sort of commodities instead of Ancient Relics ? Maybe a jettison of MA ?

Oh I hope not... we're barely discerning what the first sequence is as it is!

MAs and Thargoid commodities have been tried, as well as Soontil relics - none of them took, they just roll away like normal. So far only Guardian items have been able to be drawn into the machine - along with the UA, UP and UL, of course.

Possibly. I'll leave that to someone else though as my videos aren't coming out very clear - hard to 'read' the flashes.

Took longer than expected on youtube, but here is the 3 Urns test:

Your line of experimentation is brilliant. Are you planning to cycle through 3 of each item, then mix and match them afterwards? I would imagine that it's just Guardian tech that matters, and not necessarily the order it's in.

Maybe it's an tie fighter and the big map is really a diagram over how to take the death star down.

The Rebel Alliance wouldn't have stood a chance if they were presented with something like this as the plans to the Death Star.

What methods do people use to find out about developments as quickly as possible, eg. is there a live twitter channel or similar
Keep reading this thread :) Rizal does an excellent job of managing the first page for latest news. There is also a canonn discord, but I rarely see anything of interest, it's nearly as OT as this place :)
how do people find these listening posts so quickly when updates drop. Is it just luck or do they know something others don't (or are doing wrong)?
I was wondering about that - some of the locations (Merope) are highly trafficked and so will be spotted straight away, but all the wrecks were found in hours this time, and not all via listening posts. While the wrecks are easier to spot from space than ruins it still seems a bit ... lucky
once discovered how can I know what to do next to help move it all along (Canon group perhaps?).

Post here, prepare to be ignored as it's often seen as write-only - but some are reading. If something gets ignored it often means it's already been reported, or that people are being distracted by other stuff, so don't spam the list too much with the same info. The Front Page has lots of info on how previous puzzles were solved, so can help you if you find similar codes (though it's usually easier to ask as the FP is quite large)

You know, I think you are right and I had it backwards. So, the response to the oldest spectrogram recording would be .157, .031, .96 as shown here:

Thanks Wace!

That looks better.

If it follows the 'old' system from the UP, we are looking for something relatively close to Merope.

If 1 is still the distance between Merope and Col 70 Sector FY-N c21-3 Then the first number gives the distance to Merope and the third to Col 70 Sector FY-N c21-3.

Second number is tricky though.
