Seeing as space bugs are coming, I need a defence.

Now, most people will be looking to make super-survivable ships that can last in a fight.

Not me! My defence will be ultra-cheap re-buy, with no mod' grinding to care about losing!

I present to you, "One Cheap Pony":

https://coriolis.edcd.io/outfit/sid...Rj4tRI.Aw1/EA==..EweloBjEEYQUwIYHMA28RhjCQ===

With a re-buy of just 17K, this ship can recover from a death by simply killing 2-3 pirate Eagles or smuggler Haulers.

Four tonnes of cargo for trading goods, and a fuel scoop that is, in my opinion, just fine. An SRV for all that planet stuff, and a small shield for, well... I think I'll rely mostly on trade... But the SRV capacity does open up valuable surface scavenging opportunities. Four tonnes of +5K containers = one re-buy. ;)

EDIT:

May as well just used reinforced. The armour is tiny anyway. Might as well shave 3K from the re-buy.

And yes, I will fly this ship in Open. I really don't give a damn if I die. As they say... There's a reason there's a re-buy option.

I hereby declare myself the bottom of the Elite food chain. Flying one of the cheapest ships, and scraping the smallest profits.

If it means I can enjoy the flight though... Then I'm happy as Larry. :)

I applaud your attitude. Fly and be damned! Fly and have fun! Fly and die, who cares- you'll be flying again so soon!

Small, cheap ships are chronically underrated by too many Clipper-obsessed, credit overloaded, fat-thumbed players who do not know how to manoeuvre around a plasma accelerator or two.

If only I wasn't such a crap pilot...

I'm a schizophrenic. Trust me, it took a lot of personal battle to man up & admit I'm better suited to ultra-cheap throwaway ships.

But now I look at it... Meh. Big ships are exactly the same game as small ships.

I'm losing nothing. Indeed, at a personal level, I may actually be gaining.

you should go with E-rated loaned sidewinder who has 0 credits rebuy cost :D

Hey! I have some cash to spare... I am using my starting Sidewinder though, so that cost is zero, along with one of the lasers. Everything else is going to be LYR purchased.

If I may make a suggestion. While I applaud your idealism, may I offer you a compromise.

Viper Mk iii
Cobra mk iii
Type 6 transporter

Be open to changing your loadouts from time to time, and you can have a good time experiencing everything this game has to offer. It will cost you about 10 mil however so not so cheap but debuts will never worry you with access to favourable profit margins so there is that.

Just my idea, up to you what you do with the info.

I get what you're saying. Truly. But I think I prefer my idea. No offence intended.

So essentially: Ladies and gentlemen, for your delectation and delight, I present...

A piece of poo on a stick!

I like it!! A lot!!!

As the noose tightens, as player ships are nerfed and NPCs and "aliens" are buffed, at some point we will reach the event horizon, or the event... Horizon, no coming back for many of us.

I have something similar. She's called "Minimum Viable Product" and I've used her when I've been forced into situations where there was a high probability of sudden PVP. She's unarmed and engineered for speed but the rebuy is so low it's barely worth the effort of running away. Might be worth taking her out of mothballs when the 'Goids arrive. :)

I like your logic but man you could push the boat out a little more! Viper? Courier? Cobra MKIII is still and always will be the affordable "one ship" anyone will ever need :D.

I like this thread. It is solid Pretend Spaceman stuff where the endgame is Fun With Pretend Spaceman and not Spaceman Toy Collection Achievement Get! vibe. With no endgame, fun with ships in various ways is the entirety of this long-term game experience; and fun can be had in any available ship, even our simple salmon-steak-shaped starting Sidey. It's also alliterative!
