Yes, I know. If you read all the other replies I made in this thread chances are high that you find them too

Eh? Doesn't Galnet tell you what systems the latest goings on are happening in? If that's not leading you by the hand, what is?
OK, people need to decide. It's either too easy or too difficult to follow the story. If it's both it means everything is allright, doesn't it?![]()
I've had a decent chunk of reps for my OP in this thread, so I think there's some support out there from the player base about the way Frontier tackles story in this game.
There has been constructive criticism of Frontier's storytelling that has helped myself and others grasp just what Frontier needs to do to create a mechanism to bring more players into the mystery of Elite's Universe, without holding their hand completely. Keep in mind, this was a criticsm I also had in the OP.
There are others who hate the way Elite tells the story in the same way I love it. You're just a cog in the machine. The real universe doesn't care about you, Elite's universe doesn't care about you. You're not the chosen one, and your participation is a negigible difference to anything and anyone for thousands of lightyears and beyond. You deliver cartographic data for pennies on the dollar, you murder hundreds of stupid space pirates so your station pads your ego as you dock. You trade 1,000 cogs at a 15% profit markup and go do it again. Elite should always be about player choice, and the best way to tell a story in giving the player a choice to chase the story or not.
There's also some unconstructive trolls, and those that are being rude because they can't believe someone has a difference of opinion. Whatever works for you. You'll get no response from me.
Kind of, but you are being only handed the system names. After that you need to search all suitable bodies. Even though you can see the latest Alien sites from SC, it is still annoying to play search party. FDev also missed to point out how these systems were found in the first place.Eh? Doesn't Galnet tell you what systems the latest goings on are happening in? If that's not leading you by the hand, what is?

Just so happens Im an xbone player too...which ED groups are ye a member of?
Just look for groups from your xbox dashboard, think the biggest is just called 'Elite Dangerous Club'. Not sure you'd like them though as they're pretty positive places. .![]()
And I sincerely wish it gave me that choice but in my honest opinion it does not. How do I chase a game's story when the game gives me no in-game tools with which to find or pursue it? 90% of ED's story is unlocked and progressed by using the forum and 3rd party tools and software. Only 10% is actually experienced in-game.Elite should always be about player choice, and the best way to tell a story in giving the player a choice to chase the story or not.

However this is still a game, with game mechanics. It is not an overall simulation of life in 3300. I understand were you getting at and I think ED is too much biased to what you described instead of classic games. I am not sure if people really wanted to play an RL simulation of 3300.My take on this is that you shouldn't consider ED as a game, but as a World... In a real situation like this, only a few people would get to be part of the main events...
In other words : How do you follow the wars that are currently unfolding in middle east (just an example) ? Through videos or text reports... Now you get it ?

ED is a living world
In case of VR it is more than that. Having the need to use of game tools, for engineering my ship for example, is actually keeping me away from VR. Because it gets very awkward to play. It gets even so far, that I play ED in windowed or borderless mode, in which I generally don't play games in, to be able to switch quickly to my browser.Yes, I read the papers, watch the TV and trawl the web (with clickable links) in The World it's taking place in. Can't do that in Elite, you have to leave that world (literally step out of VR in my case) to find out what's going on in that world from this world. It's... Immersion breaking - yea, I went there![]()
And what makes ye think Im not positive? And what does my personal positivity have to do with the topic? I asked ye a simple question out of genuine curiosity as the ED groups arent very active over the past 6 months, and you insinuate Im not positive enough? Take a long hard look in the mirror kid and think about the mistake ye just went and made...not me...you ^
I've read enough of your constant whining on here to take make an assumption on your positivity, and I think anyone that's read the same would make exactly the same assumption. Anyone that spends this long on a forum for a game and developer that are as bad as you constantly make out is, in my opinion, unlikely to be a ray of sunshine I'm afraid.
I'm also intrigued what it is about my post that makes you think I'm a kid, as we're talking about assumptions, or was that some attempt to put me in my place?
