Imagine it is January 2017..

and some guy shows you this photo and claims it is from Elite Dangerous. I would laugh at him so hard :)
It is well over a week and I am still very very impressed.

Seeing the picture, let's start to imagine what lies beyond if we follow that path, mindblowing!!! the future is bright my fellow commanders ;)

Somewhere around 1990 my trusty 386DX took 24 hours to render a ball lying on flat surface with some reflections, but I believed then this will get much much better :)

To be honest it was more like 'I really hope it will get much better' This surely cant be it..

I was thinking earlier

An artist friend was convinced we would never get photorealistic computers or realistic modeling of paints.

LoL I remember rendering a 2 minute flyby of Saturn and it's rings and moons back then on my shiny new 486 SX33 (the Rings alone had over 5000 lines of code). It took 9 months, rendering 1 frame per day... Ah memories

I wouldn't be surprised and wouldn't question its legitimacy, to be honest. There's nothing superior to it when compared with what we've seen before. The art team is very talented and it shows.

Now imagine

its January 2018

As we huddle our SRVs around one of the few remaining surface stations, we collectivily curse the day we heard of thargoids and curse even more the idiot who reset the switch on the side of the overlord base from "Peaceful interaction" to "Kill all humans"

Bill

Now, all we need is a rag-tag fleet and make it a million to one shot we can get back to that base and reset the switch..... :D

But the switch is in a huge underground base.
Guarded by thousands of giant mechanical spiders.
BUT, first you must get past the patches of deadly thorn plants.
BUT, first you must get past the swamps of corrosive liquids.
BUT, first you must find the key to get into the underground base.
To find the key, you must first locate the planets that the 16 parts of the key are located on.
To locate the correct planets, you must first defeat 10 of the flower ships for one of the clues to locate the planets that the 16 parts of the key are located on.

Anyone else want to continue? My head hurts now. [ugh]

To defeat a single flower ship you need to purchase a "defeat flower ship" kit from the online store for 2.50 bucks which has a 66.6% chance to disintegrate on use.

I'm just going to direct the first bug I meet straight to this forum, after a week of reading it I think the thargoids will just simply slink off back into the shadows thinking 'these humans are mad best to give em all a wide berth'.

It's a static placed structure. It was cool when we were first finding them now I'm not so hyped. Certainly hasn't restored my faith in Fdev doing game elements properly i.e multicrew, powerplay, etc.

Plot twist - Thargoids are evolved forum members. After many years of reading and posting in these forums we finally go beyond crazy and kill any human piloting a spaceship. :p

You mean this is how salt induced mutation will look like? :)

LOL! (literally) I tried to rep you for this post, but the forum won't let me. Apparently, I need to spread some reputation around.
