Ah, thought the terminology was wrong. Photometry is the measurement of light itself, e.g. light curves from a telescope in astronomy for hunting planets, imaging asteroids etc.
The correct term for this 3D imaging is photogrammetry (once read a book on surveying and aerial reconnaissance), and there are some free applications available https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_photogrammetry_software

Yeah I went looking around to see if Google might have made something freely available - y'know - because it's the kind of thing they'd do for fits and giggles.

The key is in the patch notes:
"Overworked Air Traffic Controllers will no longer greet pilots as they are leaving"
They tried to be cryptic... but it's easy to decipher.

Of course, Traffic Controllers = Thargoids (obvious).
"Will no longer greet pilots": Until now, they hyperdict us, turn off our systems, greet us (some think they scan us, but it's not sure). From this moment on, things will be different. They are no peaceful anymore.
"as they [pilots] are leaving": Leaving what? Leaving the Bubble, of course. Why must we leave the Bubble? Well, you know... because they (Traffic Controllers aka Thargoids) are here.
And they are "overworked". Preparing Human Race annihilation it's not an easy task!

Actually this reminds me... I scanned a private data beacon and got an engineer data mat indicating an FSD problem, but then at the end it said "unknown ship detected". Are some of the scan text we get from engineer data mats Thargoid activity related?

Now, this is a very good recap indeed.

I could find some space for it on the FP... ;)


HOWEVER:
five hours for a patch list that small does not convince me at all. Something FISHY is going on....

Someone made a comment in the ED Patch thread along the lines of "5 hrs down time seems a long time for such a short list of patches".

Hmm . . . . I'm no IT guru, but maybe more content is inbound.

I haven't been able to see whether anyone discussed the apparent age of the UP and the UA.
The technology may be 50 years or older.

Facts:
- Unknown Site and the hologram displays the device you need to attach. The hologram is incorporated in the Unknown Device as part of it's software.
If the sites are as old as the last observed Thargoids, the UA/UP/UL technology must have been designed before any crash happened.

Problem:
- However, we still have no evidence of it being crashed ships. We may have evidence of the opposite since all sites are positioned in the same manner.
We have no observations over time whether it's decaying or evolving. We only have ingame messages which are conjectures from ourselves or other characters in the game universe.

Conjecture:
- The sites are Thargoid wrecks.

Hence, what the UA / UP cannot be:
- They cannot be a design by the human race or a secret organisation.
It would be very hard to explain how the holograms have been designed to match these as well as the unknown device to accept them as valid devices.

Make any sense?
