I want to hire an assassin

We should be able to hire assassins to "get back" cmdrs who kill us. Price determined by bounty of target and federation bounty.

Did I also read that the federation bounty will be equal to the rebuy of the destroyed ship?

You can't do that on the forums, I don't think...shortly you'll find out. It ain't nice calling someone out. It's OK for them to do what they did in game, but it must stay in game, so they can hide behind their dastardly deeds where FD protects them on the forums. Guess if you don't actually use the cmdr name your good.

Why would you not want to have a go yourself? even if it means you getting wiped a few times, the experience you will gain will be good in your combat training.

However do watch out for game's rules about persistent hounding (What ever it is called).

To what end though?

You destroy his ship. He doesn't care.

Rebuys are cheap and the cash for a rebuy is just a quince visit away.

The fact that you are angry at the loss of your pretend space ship, feeling hard done by and considering angles for revenge mean that he has already won.

What he says ^^

It is an interesting concept though if we omit the part where any specific CMDR is mentioned by name etc. I wonder if there would ever be a system set up whre a CMDR could hire an NPC or other CMDR to complete a mission on their behalf - if they donated part of the earnings to this other [a good portion], it would mean that hte other player [or NPC if wanted] could take advantage of different mission types that are not normally open to their own pilot's rank?

This is a very very vague suggestion, but it could be refined a hell of a lot more, and used as a method to increase co-op play if a CMDR is interested in doing this. Perhaps they don't have enough ime to make two missions count in their own game-time, but if they could have done, they would make a good impact on their own ranking, and make a 'difference' to the minor faction who 'owns' the missions - so generating this multi-player version would be to their benefit, or if using an NPC they would receive much less in terms of reward, but still reach their ranking-target for example. I don't know if any of this makes sense, but it could be explored as a way of increasing the gaming content received in a shorter period of time. Compared to other newer gameplay tangents that are being worked upon as we speak [walking around inside a ship to me seems a bit pointless, after a CMDR has done it once - just my opinion but I cannot see the point in repeatedly walking around a ship and looking at the wall - unless there is a new gameplay element added to this.]. This could be implemented as part of the current multiplayer gaming style, which I sometime wonder if that only really works for some players if they have enough time in a gaming session - in other words a LOT more time lol!!

Just an idea folks - don't try to slaughter me cause I had an idea; I am just trying to further expand all of our gaming experiences by making suggestions :)

Cheers everyone,
The Hat :)

PS:- Could hire an assassin to take out an NPC that has been chasing you in the next system you are to go to - the assassin could fly there before you do, find the NPC badboy, and whack him before the CMDR has got round to taking off and moving to that system. ??? :) Presuming that a CMDR is in one of those instances where they are being chased by a particular NPC, as opposed to the simple system's security service ships.

You make some good points. Unfortunately, your last point won't work. NPCs are not persistent. You could hire 10 commanders to kill 10 different instances of the same NPC, but the NPC will still "magically" appear to attack you, if the RNG roll triggers an attack.

This game could be epic if there was away of tracking peeps or Npcs around the galaxy

Yes, it "could be epic", but unfortunately, the game doesn't make that very feasible. The NPC case is discussed above. In the case of "peeps" (commanders), the problem is they might not be playing in Open, and even if they are, you might not be able to join the particular "instance" they are playing in.

Player contracts should be a thing.

Agreed, but in addition to the issues I listed above, there isn't a good way to pay the other commander. You have to meet in Open with cargo capable ships and pay in gold or other high-value cargo.

A number of us tried setting this exact thing up soon after release. There was a website with details of targets, bounty value and payment type. Unfortunately, with instancing, modes and timezones, it's really really hard to actually find your target:(

Yes OP, Cornish pasty-head here, is right!

...let it go! & find Nirvana within thyself :D

Go to a CG in open .... ask your interdictor (ummm, because you will be interdicted) if they'd be willing or go to the spaceport and ask there.... lots of the griefer/gankers are really just bored of everything else in the game, they may be interested in your proposition just out of curiosity...
