Searching the two candidate planets in HIP 14621 and getting tons of UA spawns while in orbital cruise. Never seen them there before. Unfortunately haven't found any Thargs yet.

Would be easier, but I don't think we've tested whether that is available for all Unknown Items, and which sites it works at. If it's even persistant. Problem is the 200+ sites that might need checking....

This works for the day side. Do not have good procedure for the dark side, I just drop at 50 km in few places hoping I will spot it, they are lit so if you drop in the right area you will see one.

The base itself is at the last 10 seconds of the movie. Not very visible because of the movie compression, on my screen it was very obvious the moment I pointed the camera on it. top 1/4th of the scree, right in the middle.
Next tricky part is to orientate your ship to point at the base, I zoom back out until I see my ship, then switch controls to the ship and point it roughly at it, then exit the camera.

+1 rep for this. Way better than flying around the planet in orbital cruise trying to spot something.

Artigan99's guide shows them inside. I believe they can be found outside, but for a guide to say 'go to a huge site, wander around and see if you spot X' is not a great experience. Maybe I'll add 'look outside' as a note for advanced searchers!

Much as I enjoy the way the story is playing out it does seem to play into the hands of those who complain about Canonn getting everything first. Only discussion seems to be here & discord, nothing in main forum I can see, and no way for people off-forum to find it other than 'happening' to be in Maia.

At least with the much maligned CGs of Ram Tah people knew they were happening...
But then again this is supposed to be Palin working in secret, so ... immersion I guess ;)

This is why people think there is no story outside what Fdev feeds to Canonn, and in order to make any kind of first discovery that people will eventually forget about so you can have 5 minutes of pats on the back you need to be apart of Canonn. Nobody has to share the information with you. If he discovered it, he is entitled to uncover the mysteries of it before releasing the fully prepared information. It is his choice to share with you or not.

The only thing I was upset about was it potentially taking quite a long time for the messages to get decoded since they didn't have a UP at first. At least someone convinced him to let theirs be used. I was at the time of the discovery eyeballing planets for sites. The faster the sites got discovered the sooner I could stop wasting time in systems that would soon have a site laser pointed out and could get using my eyeballs on planets where the searching would actually have to be done.

Unless you've spent hours of your time in the past weeks staring at beige you likely don't realize how crazy staring at planets looking for green spots can make you.
