We're actually paying to have no colour (white) lasers and engines?

Yup. White is a color just like Blue or Red. The idea about this you are conveniently missing is that weapon types have individual colors built in. If you have an interest in having all your weapons fire the same color, you need some form of Color Pack from the store. Want white weapons an all hard points, buy the pack. If that doesn't mean anything to you. Pass. But, to imply that buying White as a weapon color is some kind of travesty, leaves me with the impression you are just looking for ways to poke FD.

White lasers are unrealistic anyway.

Are you saying we can have rainbow colored lasers (different color on each hardpoint)? xD

Actually... It's not... White light is an equal combination of all wavelengths of the visible spectrum. Blue and red are predominantly just those wavelengths.

I guess personally speaking I always found the notion of charging to change "#FF0000" to "#00FF00" in some code questionable. But I guess, "#FFFFFF" is even more effort :)

I wish, this is exactly what I expected when I saw them, but nope one colour across all hardpoints, it's really stupid if you ask me. I want to be able to have my projectiles default colour, and change my laser colours.

Seems legit to me.

I agree, this kind of utterly basic customisation in a full priced game is called "Fee to Pay"

No, I'm saying that weapons like PA's, lazers, cannon rounds all have their own natural color. In order to get them all to fire the same color, you need a pack. When a pack is used, all weapons on the ship fire the same color.

Can you say Pedantic? When I made that statement it was in the context of the purchase of weapon colors. Enjoy.

Its pizza money.

It's just eye candy, it has nothing to do with gameplay. Don't like it? Just ignore the store and don't pay a dime.

Anything beyond the old text based muds is eye candy... So on that basis perhaps we should be happy with the game being as follows:

You are docked at Lave station.
You can hear the sound of ships coming and going.
There is a tonka toy truck going around the station in circles around you.

Press 1 to launch
Press 2 to enter the BB
Press 3 to visit Frontiers shop to have real GFX

Cmdr Gweefer has entered the station.

Actually I enjoyed old-school MUDs quite a bit.

But that's beside the point. You get good graphics by buying the game. Want to customize colors or have a silly bobblehead? You can buy custom eye-candy if you want. I'm perfectly fine with that, please let go of the ridiculous argument that the game is somehow incomplete if you don't shell out money for purple lasers instead of the default.
