Used both, and there's no doubt in my mind that the X55 is better. It's built better, it feels better with more buttons and switches in the places you want them to be.

It is also, of course, more expensive.

I went X52 Pro because of price, but then the promised stock kept getting delayed and when I saw the x-55 in stock I snapped it up and cancelled the X-52.

I hope I never see a real x52 so I will be perfectly content with my choice.

Both get very good reports from people and you will get both opinions on here so it won't help. Either search both out to try or jump on on a hunch and never look back.

Had an x52 - it was crap. Don't know about the x55. Buy them all then end up with CH Products like us old timer flight simmers did :)

I have an X52 and it works well accompanied by VoiceAttack to fill in the gaps.
But I have ordered an X55 as I need More Hats :) And the additional swithes on the throttle will be very useful

Unfortunately it is out of stock country wide. So I have to wait until at least the end of the month for mine.
Unless I want to pay 150 bux above rrp hehe:eek:

If you can afford and justify the cost of the X55 then get that. If not, get the X52. It's still a very capable, nicely made, and well functioning joystick that will play the game just fine. Just because Saitek brought out an X55 doesn't mean the X52 is suddenly a piece of junk.

They'll both satisfy your gaming lust... the only question is how much do you want to spend to have that gaming lust satisfied?

The X52 is an excellent stick but I am glad I bought one used for $40. I'd probably save up and buy a X55 if I was going full price.

The X52 has a few design flaws I hope didn't carry over to the x55 like a hollow steel tube that the switch wires rub on when the stick is moved to the point that the edge eventually wears through and cuts the wires.

Over time you will have to solder in some new ones. also the magnet mod is vital if you want to get the most out of the x52's.

I expect you pay quite a bit for the mfd in the x52 which looks cool but is pretty limited. When testing a new layout with the profiler it's cool because you can give all the functions labels that display when you use them. So you can't forget what something does. Other than that, not really necessary.

There's been a lot of bad reviews of the x52 but I don't know anyone who actually bought one that was faulty. I guess its the usual vocal minority thing.

Used both here, so here's my 2p worth.

If you can afford, and find stock of, the X55 get that, it feels a lot better quality than the X52 and is far more flexible with all the buttons, extra hats, toggles, etc.

The X52 is fine though, cheaper, easier to find stock of, and works really well in Elite, but I'd not go back to it after getting the X55.

I'd suggest the decision on which to go for depends mainly on how much you are happy to spend.

I would also recommend the extra spend and the X55. I tried one at Lavecon and have also been trying to source one to do a review following on from my X52 Pro one - it certainly feels better.

Only briefly tried an X52, I bought the X55 mainly because I much preferred the looks! Sorry to be shallow but the X52 was very toyish whereas I think the X55 looks more serious and purposeful... and I'm a serious and purposeful kinda guy. ;)

Overall happy with it but need to find a decent lube to eliminate creaking.

I tried X55 but never liked the ergonomics of the stick, quite unfortunate placement of hats and buttons. Also, you can't adjust the hand support. The only thing I liked was the throttle. I prefer X52 Pro in this case which I own.

However...

If I had to choose I'd go for Thrustmaster Warthog :p The price difference, if you compare it to X55 is almost insignificant (around £20 on Amazon.uk) and Warthog is of much better quality. There is one drawback though - no yaw...

But this is only my opinion.

I'm actually with Sloma here, I found at lavecon that I couldn't use the X55 with my hand on the rest and reach the thumb switches comfortably. Whereas with the X52 pro, because the wrest was adjustable I could.

HOWEVER the X55 has better build quality, more switches, more dials, MOAR EVERYTHING....

For me in Sweden the cost of the X55 is almost the same as an X52 Pro while the Thrustmaster Warthog is much more expensive.
X55 = 1690 SEK = 146 GBP
X52 Pro = 1539 SEK = 134 GBP
Warthog = 3340 SEK = 289 GBP
The prices are from komplett.se, one of the larger webshops in Sweden. You may get the products a little bit cheaper on other stores but I wanted to compare prices on a larger shop that sells all three products.

So it may be good to check the local prices and availability in your country also before deciding.

Are you sure about that? You're not looking at the price for the Warthog stick without the throttle, are you?

Yay my X-55 turned up today

Yay! My X-55 just turned up.

But it gave me a scare. Everything on the Throttle was OK , but none of the buttons or hats on the Stick would register. Analogues seemed OK.
Any way the problem magically rectified itself when I ran the Calibrate Axis function in their software. I assume some setting in the driver was way off by default and it resulted in none of the controls on the stick being recognised in either windows or their software.

But now I am like a newbie pilot again. Have to relearn the controls but I have Hats... Lots of Hats :)
X52 can go in the corner now.

Liking my x55. It's much more generic in layout than the Warthog and much more plastic but doesn't feel bad for all that. From my research I couldn't find the Warthog for less then £270 new which is £100 more then the x55 I got direct from manufacturer. I am in the UK.

I have fairly small hands but still get on okay with all the hats; the top one is a bit of a stretch. May glue a bit of closed-cell foam to the palm rest to raise the height.

As for the x52pro, I'd buy one if you don't mind it's looks (I do...) and can find one at a substantial discount compared to the x55...otherwise get the latter.

Or... If you are in North America, consider CH. Difficult to get hold of in UK and not cheap here.

The X-55 is superior, 10 years newer meaning much newer technology has been put into it, several more HAT switches, separate USB cables for both the throttle and the stick, more buttons in general and the MOST IMPORTANT part that no one else seems to have mentioned is the fact you can change the springs on the stick to alter the resistance to whatever suits your play style... eventually the springs on the X-52's go slack and the joystick becomes a shadow of its former self, yet on the X-55 the spring can be changed for another.

I'm afraid your wrong there, the warthog is almost double the price of an x-55 in some outlets

X-55 rrp: £170
Warthog rrp: £280

The inflated prices for the x-55 on Amazon are third party sellers trying to cash in on the fact they are out of stock everywhere.

If they really were £20 different everyone would have the warthog, but even then it has no yaw Control.
