OMG!!! New rift user

My canopy cracked in my Vulture last night, so couldn't see the "Destination time/distance countdown" to the station ahead of me I had to lean waaaaaaay over to the right to see it. Longest seven and a half minutes of my life to get repaired and claim the 5.5M bountys I had. 34 seconds to spare.

This just gets better and better in VR:D

LOL - I'm picturing this!

It's great seeing all the new VR CMDRs getting their minds blown, I can imagine big grins below the HMD

I'm about 10 months into having VR and it's still blows my mind. Ya'all should pop over to the "A sober opinion..." thread and tell them what you think

And this is why I would pick accurate positional tracking over resolution anyday :)

excellent. do you know if you are getting the old bundle complete with xbox pad and oculus remote (and rubberised box) and touch thrown in separate or the new rift "complete" pack without the pad but with touch built in?.

Just arrived, the touch bundle includes Xbox controller and remote (I think - it certainly looks like a remote). I must confess to a drunken purchase the night I saw the price drop so I didn't do a full due diligence check.

Wow, not bad for a drunken decision. You did good. You got everything. :)

It wasn't really impulse as I had been waiting for a price drop..... Still Mrs less than impressed!

So after struggling with phantom windows security updates for an hour (HULK SMASH PUTER) got it working. Been playing since premium beta. I never really realised the sheer scale of the stations. Looking forward to some canyon racing... Once I fiddle with it enough so my vr head is attached to my vr body :)

lol some of my best decisions were made thanks too booze ;)

i bought my original PSX (PS1) thanks to the toss of a coin after a full days drinking. not a decision i would have made sober, blowing a large section of my uni grant on a console along with some games (ridge racer, resident evil and loaded if memory serves)

Hi Guys! I ordered my Rift from the same summer sale on this week's Monday. Not sure how long it takes to arrive, but it's been ok since I've been speccing and building a proper gaming PC to suit the HMD (mostly been using Apple products at home this far). I must confess that I was truly blown away when I tested Rift the first time with Warthog HOTAS + Pedals. However, I had to wait for awhile for the price to drop since I couldn't afford a new computer and the Rift with all the controllers etc. Anyways, I can't describe how excited I'm, I hope I get the new PC and the Rift soon. I wasn't so sure about the controllers, so I ordered a pair of T.16000s and T-Flight rudders, since that seemed like a cheap option to experiment around before ordering anything more expensive. I've been playing on Xbox this far, but really wanted to try different control scheme since the Xbox Pad is not optimal for using thrusters while doing the combat maneuvers. I also ordered Roccat Tyon for experimenting with HOJAM (hands-on joystick and mouse) setup, but that seems to be less popular here than on other games. Also, shout out if you have tips for HOJAM, I've found only general articles mainly concerning SC this far. Anyways, see you around in space (hopefully very soon) :)

HOTAS (with a good button map to suit) & the Rift are a dream combo. You wont want play ED on a screen ever again!

Enjoy!

I kind of didn't like HOTAS (at least the Warthog one) so I'd be more willing to try out dual stick and some derivatives... Also, could be that i just need to find a HOTAS that I like, for example VKB offering might end-up closer to my taste. But let's see. I'll maybe write something after I've been experimenting a bit.

I have the warthog and love it. Obviously being a big fan of the A10 in DCS helps. HOTAS is a natural fit with ED though, no way I'd ever use two sticks unless I wanted a JCB simulator.

Love my Warthog too - particuarly with the analog stick I modded into the throttle for lateral thrust and percise docking controls.

x55 stick was donated to another commander and replaced with a Warthog shortly after I completed the throttle mod.

Awesome mod sir.

The analog stick was what really made me decide to go for the CH Pro-throttle
The resolution on this stick is rather low but with an easily set curve ramp I have both fine control for my soft <6ms landings and full thrust power for combat.
If I'm missing anything it would be between the 50% and 100% thrust mark, don't really miss it though.
