Other VR Flight Sims

just buy a 1180 next year (possibly will be branded 2080)

i reckon it will manage ED on VR ultra and allow some shiny super sampling all off 1 card. no need for SLI and chances are if you sell both your 1080s next year it will fund the single card. its what i plan to do. Nvidia works VR SLI sounds nice in practice but if hardly anyone supports it properly what is the point (imo).

Yes, I want these cards to see me through to the TI version of the next gen, probably still at least two years away from that.

How's the single player campaign in BoS? I've got this on my list for next Steam Sale for sure. I'm more of a take my time with nice long take-off to landing missions in flight sims.

I think VR is just a natural fit for cockpit type games.

What about a mech game? I did hear that the next Mechwarrior will be built for VR. That sim would be amazing

I'd get back into Mechwarrior for this. That would be amazing if done right.

Personally, I do play DCS. ED and DCS are my only two games.

Z...

The default campaigns are ok, but a bit generic and soulless, they give you the freedom to choose what kind of basic missions you would like to do, with a few scripted missions thrown in.

They added the ability for people to create scripted campaigns, two commercial ones are available, "10 days of autumn" and "Blazing Steppes" I've been playing through and enjoying these, but I think IL2's true strength is in multiplayer. There are some very impressive servers available, where the people that host them have gone to extraordinary lengths to create a dynamic ongoing multiplayer campaign.

After Battle of Kuban, IL2 is moving to the pacific, Battle of Midway will be the next in the series, and I can't wait to catch the wire on an aircraft carrier in VR

Anyone tried EVE:Valkyrie in VR since the latest Nvidia update? Tempted to buy this.

Not since the last update but as it only supported gamepads I got bored very quickly. Not sure it's worth the entry fee to be honest but that's just my opinion on the title.

Thanks CylonSurfer, saved me a few bob there....... 'but as it only supported gamepads' Can't play with one of those damn things!

No worries - me either! Particularly not when I have over £700 worth of flight kit connected to my PC! Some of the regular players state that pad would be superior to HOTAS in that game anyway as its more twitch based.

I had my hotas working fine with Valkyrie when Oculus first gave it away for free. After further patches, and when I re-installed the game my hotas wouldn't set up. I just wanted to check out the planet graphics. As a wave shooter, it gets old fast. No way I would ever had paid $40 for it. Compared to combat in ED, free is the right price.

Wave shooter? Its a PvP arena space ship shooter with several different game modes inc CTF. I actually beta tested the game and got a free copy, which I gave away to a friend, we both still play Elite over it :D

You might also consider Aces High III by HiTech Creations. It is a W.W. II flight sim. The sim has been around for decades and it is free to download with free offline play (great way to check out VR that only costs your time). If you decide to try online then it comes with a free two week trial. Not only does AHIII allow you to fly fighters and bombers it also sports a full garage of armored vehicles. The free download includes access to ALL the aircraft/vehicles instead of piecemeal like WarThunder. Give it a try it will only cost you some time! ;-)

I went to Hitech creations and they don't mention anything that VR is supported!
If you are playing aceshigh in VR please tell us, and if so, how smooth is it in VR. I tried IL2 and DCS and those suck in FPS and gameplay smoothness in VR compared to warthunder!

Go to the homepage here: http://www.hitechcreations.com/

On the right side of the page you will see that both the Rift and Vive are supported. I have used the Rift in AHIII and found it to be very good. Head tracking and framerates are smooth and consistent. Voice communication is already included. With the Rift all you have to do is click on the AHIII shortcut, no need to open the Rift homepage first.
The Aces High BBS also has a support forum for VR users. http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php

I would think it obvious that I was referring to the single player aspect of the game. If you like the arena, more power to you. Since they pooched the hotas support it's doesn't matter to me, regardless.. If Oculus allowed gifting you could have my copy ,as well. In no way being a sim, I suppose it's all irrelevant to the topic anyway.

Another vote for Vector 36. With HOTAS and VR, its a very fun game. Like Pod-racer but flying a sim-like hovercopter. The ship engineering is pretty fun too.

Also, Sublevel Zero Redux - its Descent, permadeath, retro graphics, and full VR support. If you ever played Descent/Forsaken/etc you gotta check this one out.

Seems like all the flying stuff has been mentioned. Only one I would add, is ArmaIII w/ vorpX. If you really enjoy helis, there's nothing like the ground detail of Arma. Fair warning, VorpX is not perfect, nor fun to setup.
