Would you pay to unlock Cutter/Corvette?

No, I wouldn't. First, I'm against MTs and in-game items (ships, modules, etc.) should not be made available on the ED store. Second, items should not be handed out on a plate to those who can't wait to own everything now (which could be seen as a by-product of other cash-grabbing game developers marketing MTs in the first place). :)

No. This devalues the effort to obtain them and promotes pay-to-win. SC is already pay to win because literally every ship can be paid for day one (and to have them all, it's thousands of dollars) which creates a pretty stupid dynamic of haves and have-nots. I know you are referring to just the unlock, but it's still essentially the same thing.

Frontier want people to go through a bit of blood sweat and tears to obtain. As much as I detest the grind, it's there for a reason, and I am glad there's no way to short circuit that, simply because you happen to have a fat bank account that month.

Credits are already easy to obtain if one focuses on that. Also, I have no problems with micro-transactions for things like cosmetics because they cannot and do not fundimentally create a 'requirement' to somehow compete with others. They appeal to ego, sure, but they don't change the dynamic in-game. And that's pretty important.

Not going to lie I can't wait to see the cluster SC devolves into when it finally launches.

I'm not opposed to having to pay for the permit to own the ship, because that is just one of the many locks that has to be picked before the door to having an incredibly powerful ship is opened. I damn sure worked to unlock both my Cutter and Corvette but it doesn't devalue them in the slightest if someone was able to purchase the permit to own the ship. They would be doing themselves a favor, grinding rep sucks, we all know it and as someone who owns both the Corvette and Cutter I would have been very tempted to purchase the ship permits if that was an option.

No! But the main issue being here is that navy progression is a joke.

This^^

Fix navy progression, the rest falls in to place.
I wouldn't pay to unlock any ships.

Admittedly, I'm not far off gaining rank for the Corvette.

I don't mind FD charging for optional cosmetic items, or expansion packs, but actual in game items are just Pay2Win, or atleast Pay2Upgrade, seems as you can't buy skill. :p

Never been a fan of P2W games, so wouldnt pay any real cash for either of the two ships, I do have the Imp rank and the cash for the Cutter but have no need for it, as for the Corvette might get around to it one day but again dont really need it.

No. It doesn't really take that much to rank up anyway. Just spend a couple days ranking up with data delivery missions at Wu Guinagi or Sothis and you'll have your rank in no time. I actually found it to be a lot easier than the enginner grind.

Took me around 10 days to rank from Baron to Duke.

They're locked behind a grind-wall for a reason: they're endgame ships and should be available only to dedicated players. And how does needing a billion credits really matter? Credits don't even have value anymore. You could spend a few hours scanning Guardian monoliths and net 200 million through Ram Tah's mission, wait for a CG that has an absurdly high payout (like that one CG that had players bring narcotics and tobacco to that one degenerate which paid 100 million and caused a surge of Noobacondas), or hell, go to Quince and suicidewinder for a few hours and earn a billion right then and there.

Both Quince and Ram Tah have been nerfed. The Cutter is very expensive to outfit and easily killed at planetary base landings :p

A simple no. I deplore micro charges within a game and it is a trend I certainly don't wish to promote. Vanity items are a grey area and I do have a few of these like ship colours, but these should be free imo.
As for the inclusion of rank locked ships in game, I've never really seen the point of this other than introducing grind. Grind of itself does not make game play, only tedium and annoyance trying to rank up to unlock something. Nor does it create real game longevity, it only prolongs the endurance required to obtain the rank locked items.

If rank locked ships required different game play, I could begin to see the value of it, but it doesn't... Just more, much more, of the same missions...

Players should be able to unlock these ships with a real-world payment, but because they don't have the required rank the EFP should refuse to insure them. And if the ship is destroyed, the player has to pay FD again to re-unlock it.

No.

And if players really think such things are needed then maybe we should focus on the design of the game to get ranks..

Id rather the road to high ranks where enjoyable.

Absolutely not.

Paying real money to circumvent in game mechanics only encourages more tedious/annoying in game mechanics. It's a vicious circle.

I don't want the game to go that way, but if I could have paid to unlock the Vette, I know I would have been very tempted.

Dunno if I would have paid in the end, too much "ifs", but yeah, anyone saying "I wouldn't" are probably delusional. The grind is real AND stupid. Many CMDRs would be tempted.

No way... I hope FD will keep the current business model in the future (cosmetics only) !

I would pay for engineered modzles.

Why not for in-game player-to-player transaction ? With a hefty VAT from the BGS of course to limit the margin of the seller...

Would you buy a pogo stick and then pay the store owner to bounce on it for you?

No, no...don't answer that question. I fear the answer.

Go play the damn game. If FD have an iota of sense they'll keep the game away from anything p2w.

no i would not pay to unlock it, BUT i would have no problem with FD offering it as an option for those who would ESP if it means them NOT making getting them even more trivial than it is now..... (like they did with the clipper when they removed the rank requirements (luckily i had already earned mine at that point so it didnt affect me)).

the cutter and the corvette are the only 2 ships in the game i CANT get yet and i am happy with it being quite the journey to getting them..

Id rather the road to high ranks where enjoyable.

I am with you there however 100% and it is why i am not working on my ranks. i hope to 1 day have an enjoyable military career. its far from that right now
