Alien bases grow - With an important update at Page 4

Cheers, that's all I needed to know, since that info wasn't in your initial post I wasn't sure if you'd used the photo to measure or not.

It's certainly worth keeping an eye on, since there's now 2 measurements, we should take another in 30 days or so just to confirm. Presumably FDev drop the site expansions into otherwise innocuous client updates.

They don't need client side updates since 2.2, as both space and planetary POI can be dynamically updated or even created.

Again, just a quick note. The shadow vessels in Babylon 5 were living. Like the Vorlon ships. Both? Really really good at (and arguably the entities seemed to enjoy) ripping things apart. It's entirely probable that the flower ships are life forms, engineered for the job.

And a bit like the above, they may be really really good at (and or enjoy) ripping things apart. Like us, for example. I'm sure it'll be finetm.

"I have a bad feeling about this."

Making a note to myself: don't fly around in red paintjob after 2.4 update release.

Apparently Thargoids have Technology to grow organic stuff out of rock. See barnacles. Now look at this. The scavengers are kinda helping it grow, like gardeners of some sort.

Life starts as a barnacle, grows (eventually) into OP's first picture, into the second picture, and eventually emerges as a full-size Thargoid flower ship.
The barnacles are 'genetically' manipulated other lifeforms. If the Thargoids are growing these to use as ships - well...
Sorry to be a cynic, but the more I look at that comparison image, the more it seems like this may just be a case of a model swap and not actual growth. If you look at the positions of the big whale/Leviathan/whatever things (the things that aren't the spikes) relative to the inner ring of spike things, while some seemed to have gotten bigger and/or changed shape slightly, the two on the right-most side of the image have actually shifted positions as well. From the first image to the second they have both shifted one arms-length counterclockwise. I'll admit I'm a little biased as I've never thought that they are growing but rather deteriorating. We could stand for some more comparison photos though and more surveillance on the sites, because it could be they are changing, but it's still a little ambiguous in what way.
I'm inclined to agree. Although I do believe the scavengers are cleaning the corrosive material fromt he sites.

imo this is all leading up to an "event" whereby the alien ships rise up from the ground and jump into witch space. i don't believe we will be able to take down these ships much like a capital ship. we can shoot things on it but ultimately it won't blow up. its what comes out of it that we need to worry about.

IMPORTANT UPDATE

My mate who measured the site with me saw this thread and said "man, I took a picture the first time we were there too". So I sent him my pic from yesterday and he did this. (thx Ivan) Now the fact it was 4.000 m and became 4.800 m is somehow less important...

They are not merely excavating or whatever. This thing grows up and changes configuration, skewing the main features (those three giant beasts-insect-ships), rising them up and giving them more details. They've twisted around and grew more "jaws with teeth" and whatnot. Became more muscular and prominent. So once again, this is THE SAME BASE - MEL 22 SECTOR ZU-P C5-1, 4A -63.5266 8.0136. See the changes in 30 days. This is organic.

Sorry to tell you but i have a picture from Mel 22 sector from the 29th June. It looks like the right picture. The Unknown structure at the left picture looks like the one in HIP 14909. I try to link the pics below... both are done at 29/06/3303!

So the theory is that these things are growing and gaining more structure over a period of time.

Surely if the Goid Things are growing and/or gaining more structure/structural definition, this would also be visible from the ground?

Therefore wouldn't a good way of seeing this would be to park somewhere nearby and stay there, taking a picture from the same place at long periods, say, a day apart, and with similar lighting conditions.

This would be a more 'scientific' method of verifying the Growing Theory.

Similarly with pictures taken at altitude - one ship hovering at the same coordinates and at the same altitude takes a picture every day or so under similar lighting conditions.

Because so far all I've seen in this thread is comparisons between two different pictures taken by different CMDRs in different lighting conditions and we're not even sure the pictures were taken at the same altitude.

looks like a giant peyote with 4 dead bugs around it.
those bugs (scavengers) eating it and then puking it out on the surface must be like space shamans and babies of the big bugs who simply having a nap.

Has anyone studied the very centre? It looks to me like it might fit a flower ship, like a control centre or a star trek like "saucer section".
Maybe the flower ship visits to the sites are checking progress.

I rotated and scaled my two records... the picture posted on page 4 was incorrect. left one is HIP 14909, right one is indeed Mel 22 sector ;)

Look guys, I've posted my finds based on my research. Measures and all. If you'd like to contribute feel free to continue.

When they're done with the Thargoids they can take a look at my garden. Come to think of it, the guttering needs looking at too.

Just for reference in case it wasn't clear, I'm not saying that what you're looking at is right or wrong (I have no idea), I'm simply pointing out (to others) that you believe it may be true. It's not something you're inventing for fun.
