Since a lot of people complain about this game, I thought I would say something nice about it.

I can't play the game because I'm far from home and with no connection but a really poor mobile one. I miss getting on my ships in VR and flying them badly.... But really badly!

I've burned out on it, but when my rift arrives (if it's ever fekkin dispatched) I can see the game getting a whole new lease of life, at least I hope so. I might even go exploring if I'm not too busy vomiting everywhere.

i feel what a lot of people saying in here is when we criticise its not we hate the game - its we want some things to be better and put ideas here on how we think it could. i have had vehement disagreements with others on potential directions they wish to take elite - it doesnt stop me repping them when they make a point i agree with and think is worthy of it, or say something funny, and i hope they feel the same way about me. constructive criticism is what we are doing (mostly). but i still get this thrill when i click launch at the starport, and when i activate the FSD to jump, and when i come out of supercruise in the new system. because i just dont know whats going to happen on the journey i have gone on. and it looks epic to me still.

Sound is great.
Graphics are still good too, although they have been nerfed several times.
THe milky way is an amazing achievement, although there are a lot of famous stars missing.

I like whining about CQC and powerplay.

I kid, I kid. Ok maybe not but wrong thread! I like exploring, bulk slave trading, passenger missions of all kinds, massacres, guardian ruins, engineering, thargoid bases.

For me, there is no denying that ED has more hours than all my other games combined

For me the most hours played award goes to FSX, Microsoft Flight Simulator. By a very large margin. I guess you could say I just love flying.

Though I also love exploring space...in ships!

So yeah, I love flying ships in space too. I just prefer that space to be more interesting to explore and less....beige. [big grin]

Don't we all like flying ships in space? What's not to like? Other than the sheer amount of vastness also I'm want to say something nice.....the games graphics and sound you should hear the fer de lance boost and slow down on some powerful subwoofers

Please, everyone, can we just get one thing straight? The closest thing ED has to "spaceflight" is warp drives, per Alcubierre - in which space moves around the ship.. which itself remains stationary, and is most categorically not "flying through space" (this is the only reason superluminal travel is possible).

If you want to fly your ship through space, you have to play FE2 or FFE. Or Pioneer, Rogue System etc. etc. because all ED's capable of is slow taxiing velocities. Not meaningful spaceflight in any way, shape or form. Contrary to what that irritating voice in your cockpit keeps repeating, your "flight assist" can not be disabled, and will always prevent you from indulging anything approaching meaningful "spaceflight" speeds. You can rip out your perfectly good engines and thrusters and replace them with the snazziest "engineered" gubbins, and then your "flight assist" will let you reach a very slightly higher slow taxiing speed, at a cost of millions, but it makes absolutely zero substantive difference - at 1 km/s you're still basically anchored stationary and not going anywhere in meaningful 'spaceflight' terms. Every real space craft that ever flew, from the 1950's til now, is vastly, inordinately, incomparably faster than your pathetic go-faster-stripes fully-pimped ED submarine-in-custard.

Compliment the lack of basic flight controls or useful instrumentation, or the untiring thrill of having stars, planets and stations repeatedly smashed in your face, because those things are actually there, present in the game. "Spaceflight", by any coherent, legitimate measure of the word, is just so not.

Praise the buggy-driving minigame all you want - if you like playing a rehashed version of Infestation using a £200 HOTAS setup - if that's your bag - fine. No objections here. If you enjoy nothing more than disabling attitude stabilisers and just wobbling around for a while, that's cool too. Not my cup of tea, but each to their own. But for the love of Crimmony, can we please drop this hideous farce that ED rewards any semblance of basic "spaceflight", because it so doesn't, it hurts. (It's literally agonising to even try approaching a planet in (ahem) "normal space" (spit).

Just please stop trolling me or i'll get the mods onto all o' y'allz.

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
Yup, flying spaceships is what keeps me coming back. :)

And I totally concur with the comments about the sound/audio. It's fantastic.

Also the lore is something I really like.

Actually it *is* spaceflight, the craft *is* in a representation of space and it *is* moving (flying) so meets the criteria for that. What it is not is newtonian space flight, which is a valid complaint for those wanted that style of "flight". I believe all the flight control decisons where made to make flight and combat more fun for a lot more people as newtonian flight and combat is a bit like marmite, you either love it or loathe it....most (I believe, could be wrong) loath it, for better or worse. FD made a concession on the flight model and I believe it worked...although I wish yaw wasn't quite so slow.

I like flying ships in space.

Elite is the best VR experience i have had since middle of 2014. it is the only game which lets me feel i am a spaceman flying IN my ship around the milkyway.

from this view it has no equal, and i do not think there is anything on the horizon to really give it a run for its money either.
