It's not about how it affects other players, it's about how it affects you.And none of that affects anyone else in any appreciable way. So yeah.... I'd be fine with it.
Besides, that's all hypothetical. OP is talking about a very specific case.
Many people don't like the idea of being able to buy progression. It's not a matter of "oh no some rich kid will buy a Vette and bully me with it!"
It's a matter of knowing that there is the option to skip part of the game, i.e. knowing another viable gameplay option, and as such having to consider it, with all that implies (the ideas about "merit", etc).
In many aspects it's very much like "money exploits". Do you use them because you "need" the money? Or do you play the game the "fun" way? Most people would just prefer that those exploits didn't exist in the fisrst place.
