Oh we would dream of havin to punch metal tapes wit' oor tongues! We had to wake up at 3am, walk 39 miles wit' kids on back, forge metal ourselves and scratch oot tha tape wit teeth AND pay forger on provision of letting us do it!

And when we got home after working 27 hours a day, our mum would slice us in two wit' bread knife.

That is a comic for darksoul but I think that works very well for elite in this current stage of beta as well.

Yes, I agree that there is too much whining about ED being too hard but I don't think that it is only young people who are complaining. Some is coming from us older folks too.

I am, however, very grateful that FD is holding the line and sticking to their guns on the feature design for ED. Their design is extremely well thought out, IMHO. I am looking forward to years of interesting and challenging fun in the ED universe. We should encourage those that want quick gratification and an easy path to success in ED, to stick with it and put in the effort to learn the game and hone their skills. They will be rewarded for their efforts:D

Well watching my nephew age 12 play a game. He has 300+ games and none are complete. Then whines when they are too hard. The other day he seen my Joystick configuration and went oh hell no that way to complex.

Already ahead of you mate ... I spoke to the Frontier Devs, they're supplying me a Sidewinder with zimmer-frame attached for the 29th so I'll be ready :p

Agreed, great games don't hold your hand or make things easy for casual gamers. It's more meaningful if you earn stuff by yourself.

From what I have seen on the average age of Alpha (i'm 43) / beta backers, its the 40 somethings who have made Elite Dangerous happen, and when the actual game come out, and the teenagers of todays start to 'live' Elite as we did in the 80's then, and only then will they understand......

The thing is, I'm not saying this because I'm some super-duper Space Ace, far from it, I reckon I'll get my butt kicked hard at times when dog-fighting, there's always somebody faster or sharper out there but it's part of the journey to become Elite, it takes time.

I'll be mostly an Explorer but at the same time I'll have to hone my old I-War2 skills just in case ;)
