Not to worry. I run simulation of hundreds of Tsar Bombas and the world can't be destroyed: Maximum number of casualties is ~ 1 billion even with 100 Megaton devices. Kim jing ugh only has primitive nuclkear devs with just couple of kiltotones and they are not so good in arming their ICBMs. And the chances are that even if they fire they will miss target, or ex[plode on launch, or simply fail. Also the worst case scenario is just some damage on remote pacific island(s) (Guam, polynesia etc..) A few couple of thousand casualties.. 2011 Earthquakes and 2004 Tsunamies killed much more. Go back to your work there is nothing to see here.
Radioactive fallout, nuclear winter, Disintegration of society and states, Destruction of material property & infrastructure, famine, world scale epidemics, wars for the last scraps of fertile untainted lands, water and food, our constructions giving & blowing up like every damn oil well, nuclear power plant, and chemical plant (the amount of contamination just from this 3 going to be straggering) followed by the total collapse of biosphere. Nothing remains, just a few 100K to M people in a hellish world, turned next to un habitable.

Until that glowing light lands right next to you, then I am sure you will start to worry. Dont be like an ostrich and just ignore it cause it doesn't effect you.
The same kind of people whom crying doom and gloom because of the alienz, and planet x from the fraggindontknowhisnamesystem are at denyal when the real catastrophe looming over our head.

For the sake of the poor, starving people of North Corea, lets hope that it's not in their country that the US war industries find their next business opportunity..

Not necessarily. The knowledge is around for some times, and they have a good secret service. It can be stolen, or they just planned ahead, and worked on it, with the help of non classified aviable (slightly) related sources before got the ICBM's.

My first question is where did the evidence come from that proves DPRK had been able to miniaturise their warheads?

Iraq supposedly had weapons of mass destruction and I think we all remember how accurate that was.

Nuclear material has a distinct signature depending on where it was made, so another country can't just give them theirs. Are we really expected to believe that they managed all this so quickly by trial and error?

I'm shaking my magic eightball and it said 'not bleedin' likely'.

They alledgedly have russian technology / drives for their ICBMs. They also alledgedly cooperated with Iran on the warheads.

You'd expect POTUS to act a bit more careful and get the best intel possible before taking any steps. Threats to those "innoficial" partners could well trigger another response than NK shooting missles with questionable accuracy.
That can possibly mean Iran already have the same technology, even if not the warheads itself.
Ouch!

You have a point, but what you forget, they are far from the first nuclear power whom developed or got the technology from someone else. This changes the situation, because they did not needed to start from zero.
The first time? is heavy, sometimes next to impossible. But the ones whom following the pioneer steps have easier job, with every single time when someone go over the path.

At the beginning is just a tiny lane but in the end?

Quick, everybody panic.

For added effect, run around flailing your arms in the air.

Even if North Korea had a "Long John" type warhead (look it up), they would use it to provoke the retaliatory response they wanted.

We have no idea how big the CEP's are, on their missiles. All that counts for them is that they can reach out, and annoy someone.
