Simply Incredible

Went and saw my first Thargoid installation last night using my Vive. Wow, simply amazing. The scale, the detail, the majesty of it was unprecedented and unexpected. I was alone for most of my time there and had ample opportunity to just sit and stare at the massive features surrounding the main part of the base from multiple vantage points. The screenshots I took look flat and plain compared to the 3D masterpiece I took in over hours last night. The design detail on the scavengers, the eerie background sounds hauntingly blending together, the interplay of textures, shadow and light...

Anyone critical of Frontier for not expanding the game content can kiss my nether regions. Last night was the best and most immersive experience (2D or 3D) that I have ever had in a video game, bar none. Looking forward to 2.4 with anticipation.

Thank you devs. Thank you guys and gals at Frontier. You rock.

+rep :)

Even visiting the alien structures with just a half decent pair of headphones on is amazing, even on my below par GPU, and old flat screen TV.

Although I did chase a ghostly "howl" around the base trying to local the source.

It turned out to be my cat, begging to go outside.

She's an indoor cat. Lol

FD do an amazing job, especially in the art, and sound department.

I'd rep them if I knew who they were. :p

I totally agree. And its nice to see a positive comment. Fdev have done an outstanding job on these sites etc. When you think about it, there has been so much contact for over a year we haven't yet discovered yet. Guardian sites are still being found.

The that good sites look amazing and the audio is quality. Love it

Fully agree, did the same yesterday with my new rift. Couldn't keep my mouth closed, it was an awesome experience. Did it again today in beta 2.4 and had a better framerate and clearer VR picture, so yes, game rocks and gets improved. Thanks FD!

So much of this game I try to put back, save for a spree of objective exploration later, to make this game last longer for me.

Can't really put this visit off much longer though, I needs to get more with the flow, with what everyone else seems to be doing right now, not just my own personal blazin' trail.

I have now seen one too, the one in the Beta, really nice. Not going anywhere near them in the actual game until we know more. Still hoping I can be friends with them and buy one of there ships :p

Yes, all hail the Devs for making a non interactive structure in a game that has lots of non Interactive structures.

Some people will eat anything and say it tastes nice!

Jeez....

1. This is a thread about how amazing the VR experience is, and
2. The structure IS interactable.

Some people will bash anything and say it tastes shallow!

Jeez....

Agreed. It's top notch. Like being there on par with the production of the "Alien(1978)" derelict and surrounding spooky rocky scenes.

When you're in the middle, you forget the outside old regular procedural "beige" terrain. Which is understandable considering the sheer astronomical scale of all the planetoids and coordinate areas visit-able.

There's even "moisture' and almost-puddles on the ground with partial watery light reflection, a taste of lakes and atmosphere landings/(spacelegs) to come!

I did something good therefore whatever else did not meet expectations is unworthy of mention.
Insults aside. If you've seen the same thing in VR and said, "Meh, I've seen better." I want to know what game that was, because I'll buy it. I'm unaware of anything that visually and aurally perfect and I've played several thousand computer games in my lifetime.

My comments were directed to the moaners who never seem to like anything. Not a lot I can do about them or their attitudes.

Brilliant! Genius! Amazing!

How did you find out about the existence of the site, and how were you able to locate it, btw?
