I mean, I have four days off work, starting tomorrow. It's very inconsiderate for FD not to release it tonight

The closed beta only just started a couple days ago lol... have some patience!

I'm guessing it will be a few weeks until open beta...

Does Frontier typically announce the release date of the actual update (not beta) ahead-of-time? I'm out exploring now, but I'd like to be back in the Bubble when 2.4 hits so I can welcome our new Thargoid overlords.

Yeah, they'll annonuce it but don't stray too far: you may only get a couple of days' notice.

I am posting this on Monday 21 August at 10 am UK time.

Yesterday I returned home from hols and downloaded 2.4 Closed Beta.

Today I was about to jump in - and it's gone from the launcher.

Has the Closed Beta ... closed?

Likewise , no access to Beta 2.4 , i assume its an update to the beta that isn't going to be announced in advance?

Yeah, come to think of it, it's more likely to be Closed Beta 2.4.1 than an actual end to Closed Beta. But we shall see...

I'm imagining Mr Braben yelling at the techies in charge of the beta servers, and someone in the server room looking at a mess of patch cables and scratching their head,

Me too. I tried the "Log out of machine" option, but no luck.

I was logged in and there was an announcement we will closs the server in about 5 and then 3 minutes so i think it was as attend

In case you haven't seen in Newsletter #186 which was sent out today, or if you don't subscribe to the Elite Dangerous Newsletter (you should!) we've announced details for the Beta for 2.4 The Return!
Here's what was posted in the Newsletter:
Greetings Commanders,
We’re very excited to announce that the beta for 2.4 Elite Dangerous: The Return will begin on August 17. As 2.4 will roll out in a slightly different way to our previous updates, the same will be the case for the beta.
The initial beta period will be open for those who have previously paid for beta access, it will then close for a few days to let us prepare for Open Beta, and then it will come back online for everyone to test.

Just noticed the Beta has been removed from the launcher, what does it mean? Was there an announcement recently for this?
