Thargoids are invincible god ships for now?

And that is just what we figured out in a few hours. Anything happening at the barnacles/bases? Are there new stations to be found?

I'm wondering about that, cant see that remaining when the new modules go live.

I'm seeing a green glowing liquid effect bubbling up out of the bases of the barnacle structures, both the core and the spires. I didn't remember this happening, before. In my old, prior screenshots (and those I've searched online), I'm not seeing this effect.

So yes, could be some other things happening.

Oh come on, pics plz! :D

I like how we don't get to go on an alien killing spree day one all of you who seem a bit surprised that you can't kill them yet should have expected it

Luckily I snapped one:

So many things to try :)

If we could appreciably impact the foe, how much experimentation do you think would happen, versus current? Yeah I'm sure at face value near impervious foe seems hollow, but it does illustrate a very simple axiom.

Necessity is the mother of invention.

Frontier are setting challenges, all I can say, brothers and sisters, is "it's about bloody time!". Welcome to 2.4. They have returned.

This. Frontier aren't trying to give us a new enemy to fight yet. They're trying to give us something to fear conflict with. When we develop ways to deal with them, that sense of helplessness will slowly decrease.

But would this be a living, breathing galaxy if we just got new targets and some pew pew options to make them pop? No. It'd be a regular update like too many other games have.

They are not invincible, some people have claimed to be able to damage them to around 98% but they regenerate quicker than damage dealt, if you really want to hurt them try multiple wings anchoring on them and hit them with everything you have

If one ship can do minimal damage, 4+ ships will be able to take them out with dedicated high DPS loadouts

Finally! I found the salt mining thread!

I suspect the CG's will need to be complete before we see any new weapons. In fact, it would not surprise me to see multiple CG's for weapons/shield mods, not to mention possible new engineers to gri...erm.. befriend.

This is a great thread. I can just imagine how much the exact same people would be moaning if the thargs were easier to kill.

You mean if the balance went from one extreme to another? Sure... also, same people? Way to make your case there. And what people perchance do you represent?

I suspect the research limpets at founders are a mistake and were supposed to be unlocked later, with the bio samples tied to the 2nd cg.

From the history-books:

Pre 3125 – Unconfirmed suggestions that some kind of covert war was started with Thargoids, ostensibly by a trigger-happy Fleet Commander in the Veliaze system.
3125 – Thargoids alleged to be ‘ripping’ ships out of witchspace and destroying them. Thargoid ‘warzones’ widespread
3200 – Thargoids reportedly retreat from human occupied space for reasons unknown
3255 – Reason for Thargoid retreat was reported to be down to human-engineered ‘Mycoid’ virus which impacted their hyperdrive capability
3302 – Reports of curious wrecks of unknown vessels.
3303 – 8 sided alien ships rip CMDRs out of witchspace (hyperspace high wake), confirmed to be Thargoids after investigation by Professor Palin.

What did you expect?
It took 75 YEARS to get rid of the first invasion!
It took them 100 Years to get rid of the damage done by humans.
They had 100 years to analyse human tech!

Is this reason enough for a several tousand years old civilisation to make ships nealy immune to human tech? I would do it that way...

Zero game play - you know its possible to interact with the Thargoids, other than trying to shoot them?

Pathetic, to you maybe, personally, I'm quite enjoying the unfolding Thargoid story line!

And whats wrong with reading Galnet to keep up with the Elite universe? Had you done so, you would have understood what is happening and why... If you choose to ignore the storyline, thats fine, but don't b*ch and whine when storyline content is produced, i.e., in the form of 2.4 - which widely known and publicised would be based on the Thargoid storyline AND would be released in stages as the storyline unfolds.

agree with that last part. this I believe is an attempt at suspension as well as a reason to fear the enemy (or examine it's weaknesses and strengths)

There is a way to interact too, use research limpets to collect tissue. I am still trying to find one. all I know is that they cost 2M for a 1E module

Yeah, I'm recalling umpteen threads moaning & crying about "NPCs are nerfed too much I can kill everything with a blink of my eyes wahhh I just smashed my controller into the ground because I'm so upset FRONTIER YOU OWE ME!" *sniffle*

I think they are only at founders, andvI am not sure that is intended.

Yeah, Thargoids are invincible god ships for now. If all you know to do in a game is pew pew, until Ishmael and Liz are done working on the weapons, feel free to resume with seal clubbing. Or if you're fluent in russian, there is also CS:GO.

Yes, they are invincible, but it should come as no surprise.

Didn't frontier say human weapons weren't going to be very effective, and new weapons have to be developed?

Also, read Galnet, its useful.

2.4, as has been told countless times is an ongoing storyline. Not everything will be revealed on day one, including the new weaponary.

If you read one of the books and old cobra with multi cannons can take them out. Sure it was not engineered.
