navigation and fuel what?

ok, i dont get it.

1) how do i know the max. distance i can jump? there is a large bubble in the galaxy map, but that obviously isnt not it.

2) how do i buy fuel for jumps? in the "fuel and munition shop ui" it says "fuel tank 100%" and "reservoir 100%". how much tons of fuel do i have? there is hydrogen fuel on the commodities market which is out of stock at the station i started the game.

You are limited by your ship's jump drive. If you are full of fuel, and you can't jump, you simply can't yet. Have to get upgrades and/or better ship.

aha, and WHAT is the max. distance i can jump for the beginner ship? where is this piece of information stated?

and how do i see on the galaxy map how far i can jump?

Fuel system needs a little work. Players need to know how cargo will effect the ships range before they purchase the cargo.

but what IS the range of my ship? where can i go to??????? how much fuel do i have to buy? where can i buy fuel? (hydrogen fuel is out of stock!)

You don't buy fuel as a cargo. You refuel at station at max capacity of your ship. Your ship's jumping distance....I am on my way to work, can't look up now. If you don't find it, consider it as a bug and report it, it should be discoverable enough.

You can jump to any system available and selectable for "Lock" at your Navigation panel. From Eranin with a Sidwinder, it seems to be just 4 or 5 systems tops. The closest ones, i.e. LP, Asellus Primus, Dahan etc.

Also, if you select a destination in your Galaxy map (at jump range or not) the map will show you a dotted line path which seems to be the most fuel efficient path: 2 smaller jumps seems to be better fuel-wise than 1 jump covering the same distance.

Fuel seems to be really cheap, so the efficiency of a jump is not really a cost issue, but an issue of the time you may have to spend eventually docking and refueling at stations.

I just got done looking at the galaxy map for a mission and Dahan is not available from Eranin in the Sidewinder. Is there a direct jump between these two?

I got the impression from looking at the Galaxy map that there are jump lanes between some destinations but not others. I gathered this because when just looking at the Galaxy map with no destination inputted, it shows a jump lane from Eranin to Asellus Prime, then one from AP to Dahan, but no link between Eranin and Dahan. This doesn't change whether or not you select Dahan first.

I thought there was, but maybe not... maybe I did jump to another system first... Asellus Primus possibly?

Also remember that at the galaxy map you need to select a system AND THEN click on the "Destination" button too at the Navigation tab of the galaxy map (not the ship one).

When I selected Wyrd and then hit on "Destination", the galaxy map did definitely show me a dotted line path to it through other systems. I may be wrong but I think the path wasnt there before I clicked on "destination".

Important. I belive I understand this.

You need to hit galaxy map. You need to workout how to move around it, zoom and rotate the camera else the following will be very difficult.

Hit the navigation tab within galaxy map and then input the amount of cargo you intend to move at the bottom of the tab. All the dotted lines on the maps are ALL possible hyperspace jumps you can make with you current ship and that cargo load. From here you will find out for example, you can bunny hop to Dahan via Asellus from Eranin without needing to fuel.

Sidewinder: Around 5.5LY
Eagle around 5.2 LY EMPTY That means if you buy at Eranin a Eagle you cant get out of that "Cluster" so you cant go to aulin or even i bootis.

Hauler has more range then Eagle/Sidewinder empty with him you can get to several clusters

Or for better referenc:

Check out the navigationtab in the galaxy map

You will find a "Show jump routes" and a sdider for your cargo.

The lines between the systems are showing you were you can jump and how you can reach your destination with that amount of cargo. So if System A connected with lines to System E you can reach it but you need to use the jumppoints between and maybe need to refuel on the way.

For an example: I am sitting in Aulin with a Hauler, i know i can normaly jump from Aulin to I-Bootis that shows me the map. If i increase the cargo i will see that i cant jump anymore to I-Bootis if i have more then 14 Cargo.

The navigation Tab helps alot to get a your journeys planned. Even more Important when you try to trade, only to find out that you cant reach your destination with a full cargo hold because your jumpdrive is to weak to travel the distance.

Fuel, you get at any station. Normaly you can jump around 4 times before you need to refuel. Just keep an eye on your Fuelstatistic on the right side.

The Bars are your Hyperjumpfuel
The line is your normal and supercruise fuel.

The important note is just its dynamic controlled by your cargohold. The more cargo you have the less effective your Jumpdrive is.

This is spot on. Just checked myself.

For example, I can jump from I-Bootis to Opala with 1ton cargo (that's 6,1LY), but if I want to take 4tons, I would have to go through Styx, which is empty system half way.

Is there some jump range and other ship stats yet? Would be very helpful, especially now, so you wouldn't get stuck somewhere like that.

It is confusing, the Nav-comp says I have a jump limit of 0.7t fuel consumption, rather then max distance limit. So it feels like I could extend the max Jump distance somehow.

Well for now, I can not lose the feeling of beeing trapped.

Do you have cargo? I've heard it reduces the jump distance.

>> Do you have cargo? I've heard it reduces the jump distance.

The hyperdrive unit is "tuned" for a given total mass, and any variation from that mass (up or down) increases the fuel used per jump. If your hull weight is under the ideal mass, increasing it via cargo would do that, yes

well a 0.7t fuel jump only takes one Third of my Total fuel. I dont know why I can not jump any further. Even if mass and cargo and all, having 2 thirds of fuel ready and be unable to use, makes not really sense for me
